986 Door clang
Discussion
Hi all,
Have owned our 986 for a good few years (8, I think). One thing I've always noticed is that when shutting doors with roof down, especially with windows down too, the doors shut with a really cheap-sounding 'clang', not at all like the 'thunk' you'd expect or want, and as it does with roof up.
Is this normal on a 986?
The doors show no signs of ever being apart, nothing inside the door is striking each other, I don't think... the noise is as you'd imagine from an empty metal door shell.
Anyone any thoughts or knowledge? Thanks guys.

OP mines bad as well, but only with the window down.
Had the door apart numerous times looking for it, its clearly the windows rattling around and I know that the previous owner changed the regulators, but I can't make it stop and nor has my local specialist been able to help, short of a door total rebuild.
Perfect with the windows up, rubbish with them down....
Not very helpful I'm afraid, but you're not alone!

Try adjusting the window. Underneath the bottom edge of the door are two plastic covers (black). Prize them off and you can access adjusters for angle of the window and top stop. You need a torx bit and decent length driver to get at them but it cures mine
Sorry, now read the whole thread properly and I'll definitely try this.Thank you.
