I specced an S up to 70k with all the options I wanted.. but will go over it again as 70k is a lot for a Cayman, saying that 8k of those options would be standard on the GTS.
My dealer has hinted that the GTS won't be priced too much more than 5k over the S as a lot more comes on the 718S compared to the 981S

The 981 GTS was £55k base, and the 718 has had a price rise over the 981 models. I expect the 718 GTS to be £57/58k at the least so as I said around £60k.

I think it'll be more than you're expecting.

GTS will be around £60k base and you'll probably want to add options such as the internal GTS pack, external paint, maybe bucket seats or 18-ways, wheels/paint, PCCBs if they're your thing, climate control, PDK etc. I can see an average spec car being around £70k. That's quite a jump from £50k.

£70k is a lot of money for a four banger.
Anyone paying £70k for a 4 cylinder engine has lost the plot imho. Depreciation on those will be epic!

Ignoring any options on either car, the current 911 is £26K more than a Cayman S with both cars having more or less identical performance. In my view that is a lot of money for 2 cylinders and 2 seats (which I personally don't need) and when you are in the driving seat the appearance/quality of both is almost identical - barring a couple of extra dials. So a counter argument is that 718 GTS which will probably have performance between 911 and 911 S is good value for money. My current car is a 987 Spyder which cost £53K. My previous car was a 996 Turbo which approached £95 K with Options - almost twice the price. The driving enjoyment from the Turbo was no more than I get from the Spyder. The new GTS will have performance very close to the 996 Turbo so again - good value for money I think. If you can't get over the engine argument though I guess this is all academic!

The number of cylinders thing really doesn’t make any difference in the grand scheme of things. People pay over £70k for batteries to power their car, so 4, 6, 8, 12 cylinders does not really relate to price. In this market what matters to most is the performance and a car that sounds like it should.

If the new exhaust system means the new GTS can sound special in the way my GTS does (and not like a hot hatch trying too hard), then the cylinder count matters not a jot.

All that being said, I was looking at the un-disguised shots of the Box GTS on the Ring recently and that front end Just does nothing for me. The GTS front treatment looks bland AF.

Definitely food for thought..
Looks like I'll be revisiting the options ticked if that's the case.
I wouldn't like to spend more than around 66k on the GTS.

We'll said..
I'm coming from an M4 cp which is a car that got slated for the sound if it's 6 opposed to the V8 of the e92, I loved the sound and power of the straight 6.
A lot is all down to personal opinion.
I had a demo Cayman without pse and that still sounded good past 5k, granted I do live around a lot of nice country roads so you can really rev it out.

I had an F80 Comp Pack Andy, I thought it sounded st biggrin People slate the 718 but I think it makes a much more interesting noise than my M3 did, not quite up there with my previous BGTS but I'm enjoying it nonetheless.

I must add that before the M4 I had a long line of diesels so didn't have much to compare it to wink

All that being said, my boss has just taken delivery of a new Continental SuperSports (700bhp W12) and the sound that makes causes my knees to go weak...so there is something to be said for a Buster Gonad sized engine... smile

Those big Merc V8 bi-turbos do indeed rain down the thunder of the gods. The sound is truly biblical.

Interestingly, I popped into an OPC yesterday and, though he was happy to talk about the GTS being available to order from October, he said they have a policy (and that all OPCs should have a policy) against taking deposits on cars that have not been announced. Just interesting to see how different places play it.

Joking aside I'm sure the 718 GTS will be a superb sports car, as indeed all the 718's are. There isn't a better sports car out there for anything like the money. BUT, I suspect for most existing 981 GTS owners, certainly this one, that engine could never replace the n/a flat six. Who knows, Porsche may wave a magic wand and improve the current F4 for the GTS... time will tell!

I put a deposit on a BGTS yesterday, albeit the paperwork shows a BS. Am told on launch it will be switched over. I wasn't the first deposit they had either.

From the evidence of this thread alone, it looks like there might be a bit of a queue for one.

My wanting to get one no earlier than July / August next year isn't looking too troublesome!

I'm hoping the 718CayGTS manages to look the part. I am not saying it should be a GT4 lookalike, but the 'spy' shots of the undisguised BoxGTS did nothing for me.

My CGTS really does get a lot of admiring comments, even from other Cayman/Boxster owners. The front end treatment works really well (regardless of being available on later versions, it is still something which makes the GTS a bit more 'special edition') and it has a fine ass if I do say so! smile

The GTS front bumper on the 718 that I have seen looks very...bland. frown

ETA: Zunsport are going to make a fortune, looking at the below! wink

Just isn't working for me in the pictures:

It reminds me of one of these for some reason - it's all in the eyes/headlights. Not a great look to be honest...

Yes I think I refer the 981 GTS front end but the 718 front end does look better in the flesh particularly when painted in body colour
