Good to see you and the CR David. Some of the clios were very well driven but one or two hadn't worked out that slicks have a limit too! hehe

Yep - Boxsey and a couple others will be there... unfortunately - i couldn't get there either.

Brands is next for me at the end of the month.
Yes, three of us in GT4s made it there and Grant in my old CR. Jay, you could have got on, I saw a couple of people sign up on the night. However it was a poor evening. Too many cars booked on. I counted about 60 which is too many for an evening session IMO. Lots of queuing to get on circuit because of the numbers and a few idiots that threw themselves into the gravel. Managed a few decent laps in the last hour when things had calmed down a bit but called it a night half hour before the end when there was yet another red flag. Next outing for me will be the PCGB day at Oulton Park and the end of October where driving standards will be far better.
Thats a shame to hear Steve. Open track told me 50 was the max limit! I hate it when they say open pit lane and you have to queue, it might aswell be sessioned! Maybe I go back to bookatrack, never had a queuing issue with them as they limit numbers.

Sorry about the way the day turned out Steve...that is my only concern about some of the track days available - Ideally I'd stick to PCGB days and premium TDOs... driving standards ought to be better in theory and people probably more respectful of each other and the vehicles.
Did you get any pics or any timing, lap breakdowns?

Luck of the draw mate...I've been on worse days! Looks like my old GoPro has finally died so didn't get any useful footage and I've yet to check what I've got to use on the car (I've sports chrono but haven't checked if it's been prepared for the track precision app?). I did some circulating with Grant who did a best of 1.26 in his CR so I guess I would have been similar to that. Certainly enjoyed those laps...especially sliding it into the chicane and through the Old hairpin...but still tentative on the turn in to Craner's as that's where, a few years ago, I had my biggest ever spin on a track day!

I was there for the daytime trackday and it wasn't much better for red flags (I think we had 6 in total during the day although it felt like more).

Although on the plus side we didn't suffer any queuing.

Back in Dubai later on in the year and I always either rent a super car and go into the mountains or do track time. Just looking for some track time this year and have seen the Dubai Autodrome have the Cayman GT4 race car available!

4 Laps is abit meh, but still might have a go. Either that or back to to Yas Marina for tuition in the Radical SST.

That' looks good, but £400 for 10 minutes practice in a TT and 4 laps in a GT4 is certainly not good value, even for Dubai standards.

I have tried to rent a GT4 but never found one, then i can go hooning up Jebel Jais mountian, or hafeet. Its expensive, and Yas Marina tuition seems way better value, and the prices have not go up since i did it last. Would love to have a GT4 out there though.

Is anyone doing the PCGB trackday at Croft on the 23rd of August? It usually is a really good day and has been well attended the last few years.

Another one from the night

Great to meet up and catch up. Some interesting driving standards and a wide variety of cars on track from Mk1 Fiesta to full fat race M3s.

went to a Silverstone track day a week ago ....run by Silverstone and only about 50 cars . Since it was hot by about 3 pm there were only 4-5 cars on track at any one time . In fact got a bit lonely out there .
Only 1 stoppage all day although someone managed to drag a fair bit of gravel onto the race line ( pet hate ) so had a number of stone issues ...
By the end of the day the lone R8 GT3 race car was having a private test session literally .

I need to renew the insurance on my GT4. Classicline have put my premium up by around 25% for the same cover and circumstances.

I require 5k miles, track cover (2 or 3 per year) and I don't have a tracker. All recommendations appreciated.

Defo Mannings. I deal with Michael Briggs, he's good. Track cover and I pay I think £1000 but have 6 points and not the best record.

Mobile chicane, can’t drive for toffee, don’t know why he bothers driving it, should be polished and taken out for concourse events only. I hear that Spyders are much quicker anyway...
