Bit of confusion here, sorry. My message was in response to a post that now seems to have disappeared about someone previously owning the car - which turned out to be another car. Thanks, but PM went to someone else. Confused? Me too! 😁

Anthony, have you managed many miles in the 987? Initial thoughts?

Had the car delivered yesterday evening and only had a chance to have an hour out today. First impressions are exactly what I hoped they would be. General feeling of litheness - although I do wonder if steering feel might be a bit better on 18s (not that I would dream of changing the beaut 19 Spyder wheels!). Ride is better than I expected. As it was a little greasy out in parts today and wanting to go easy, not really got an impression of hustling on, but feels very easy and rewarding to drive.

Car has PSE, but maybe missing popping and banging at lower revs, but thats probably because what it replaced was a V8 289 cobra rep that sounded throaty thoroughout the range. 987 sounds lovely at higher range though - just encourages me to drive that bit quicker.

Absolutely delighted with the car I have bought and the inspection came back as one of the nicest they have seen. Promise pics will be up as soon as weather does them justice. Been in touch with local Porsche dealer and hope to get onto warranty scheme when I can in 3 months. Interested to hear from anyone else who has bought a car outside of the network and then put onto official warranty.

Congratulations with your purchase and welcome to the club...

Was thinking of moving mine on a few weeks back as short on space to house both it and the GT4, but just couldn't do it!!! I bought mine in June and I've just had it mot'd and a Porsche 111 point check done. Was slightly nervous as to what either could throw up especially as I have PCCBs, however I needn't as it passed both with flying colours, no issues whatsoever, even happy with the tyres still being the originals from 2010. Porsche Guildford put it up on a ramp and showed me around the car, commenting on what great condition it was it and that it looked as though it had been kept in a garage most of its 14000 miles, which was nice! Getting the good news has made me love it that little bit more..

I've slapped a 24 month Porsche warranty on it to boot.

Have been out in mine most of the weekend too and mainly with the roof off.

Agree the sound at low revs with PSE could be louder but at 4K Revs it's great .

My only real gripe is the standard brakes aren't really up to the job after a good session lane hooning where your on and off the pedal lots .
There is no real fade but have noticed them drowning at times .

I think the spyder is the real sweet spot in the 987 range . Good looking cars too .

Enjoy

Love mine too.

It just happens to have braided brake pipes, racing brake fluid and occasionally squealing brake pads and it stops on a postage stamp.

Brilliant little car, goes, stops, steers and sounds just like a little sports car should.... all IMO of course.

OP, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I love mine....

Great to hear everyone else is out and about in theirs, I was out in mine last weekend, it was pressed in duty whizzing over to my Mum's to do her DIY, the drive there and back made it a very enjoyable long morning.

That’s good to hear. As a Surrey boy, Guildford is my local main dealer, but also got a reasonable feel about Byfleet service centre when I test drove a manual 981 in there. Going to do the official warranty too, so it will be one of the two. Any good experiences of either out there?

The 987 Spyder is EPIC, I bought my 700 mile Spydy in 2011 and it’s now done 106,500 miles - every single one of them AWESOME - no issues, no fuss

106k wow.... that has to be a 987 Spyder record.

Fair play.

I feel even worse now. I just don’t use mine enough. Coming up 8yrs old in June and a pathetic 13,000 miles.
