Who are you trying to please - me or yourself?

What do (should) you care about what I think - it's your car!

I was having the same dilemma for my Boxster GTS. I asked the OPC if they had a car fitted with SPASM which I could try. Their response was that they never spec demo cars with SPASM as it can hinder subsequent sale because it can cause ground clearance problems. This is quite telling in itself and they recommended that I did not spec it. Don't know if this helps!
That’s hilarious! When I bought my BGTS at the end of 2014 I had the choice of three cars coming into my OPC all of which had been specced by them with the harder fixed sports suspension.

I never had problems with ground clearance in that car (I used it as a daily) and haven’t had any with my 718 CS with SPASM either. The ride is quite a bit firmer but not uncomfortable or crashy.

That’s interesting thanks.
Looking online at 981 gts cars for sale they’re seems to be 50/50 that have the sports suspension fitted.
If it’s going to make the car so low I’m constantly worried catching the bottom I might be better without it.
Has anyone had it fitted on a 981 gts?

Did you read the post above yours? I had it on a 981 BGTS, used the car as a daily for 20 months and 10,000 miles and never had a problem with ground clearance.

This subject has been debated long and hard. Some don't seem to have problems, but many do. Others regard the front apron as sacrificial plastic. Mine is (only) an S with PASM and it still grounds very occasionally. I suppose it depends on how steep your drive is and whether you have to negotiate some serious speed humps.

Maybe I’m lucky and we don’t have particularly harsh speed bumps in Warwickshire. I caught my Tamora’s front lip a few times but I’ve not had that issue in any of my Porsche’s around here.

No i didn't read your post because it wasn't there! If you'd looked you'd have noticed both messages went up at the same time.
Thanks for the reply regards the ground clearance

Correct me if I am wrong but my understanding is that 981 came with "standard" suspension or PASM (which was standard on GTS). PASM lowered the ride height by 10mm (as did the previously available non active sport suspension) The 718 with SPASM rides 20 mm lower so clearance may be more of a problem.

You are smile There was an option for fixed Sport suspension (X73) on the 981 GTS which lowered ride height by 20mm rather than the 10mm which PASM did.

This thread seems to have gone quiet. Anyone had any further news on deliveries?

My order has been in since they announced the gts and has locked down for production some time in January. If I can get delivery in January I think I’ll take it. If it’s February then I’ll wait until 1st March.

Mine is due to leave the factory on 29 Jan so early Feb delivery. Not sure whether to wait for 1 March registration though - I do have a private plate but it might be nice to drive around an "18" plate for six months ? On the other hand is that more important than getting the car asap? Having waited so long will another couple of weeks make much difference ? I cannot see it makng much difference to residual when time comes to change - which may be sooner than expected if new Spyder is launched next year (with a PDK option 😱)

My thoughts are that a February registration may cost £3-500 at least when it comes to part ex and possibly more relevant if you are planning to change for a spyder- as I am as well.

No production dates for me yet.

Mine was locked down on 6th December and the OPC said they'd get it in Feb. I'll take it when it comes.

My lockdown was early December and my car is due in Feb.
My dealer told me they were only getting two BGTS before Porsche close the factory for a few months to adapt the factory for this mission E stuff and that i had the first one due in Feb.
My first ever Porsche and always dreamt about owning one since a kid so excited to say the least smile

Mine went into lockdown on the 6th December as well I think so it looks like a January production and February to the dealer. If that is the case I’ll wait until 1st March.

It seems that there are a few of us in that production run. Let’s see who gets the photos up first.

Well done! I'm sure you will love it.

It'll be my second 718 as I sold an S when ordering this one. They are brilliant cars.

What spec have you gone for?
