Great ! Have you heard it at high revs? I had a 981 GTS, and was so disappointed with the 718S with sports exhaust I drove. I loved it on start up, but massively missed the change in tone as the revs rose. I'm so hoping they have nailed it with the GTS
Yes they're great on start up and that's it, naff sound the rest of the time imo

RE: the old climate argument...

I don't have climate and its fine to be honest.

In the Cayman, the cabin is so small that I find I barely ever have to change the fan or temperature settings at this time of year, I just leave it on max heat with one bar of fan and just hit the "max ac" button first thing in the morning to clear off any misting. Rest of the journey to work I don't every tough again.

In our Macan which does have climate, I honestly find myself fiddling around with the temperature and fan settings more.

My order is in for a Graphite BGTS, had a slight wobble and nearly flipped for Miami Blue but decided to stick with Graphite.

My last tweak to the spec before cut-off is whether or not to get the roll bars painted or leave them, what do you think?

My 718 s in gt silver had them painted and I think it made a big difference. It is visible from the side as well as the back as the panels next to the bars that can be seen with the hood down get painted as well. My Carmine red gts will have them painted as well.

Without paint they can look like fairly poor black plastic so for me it was a definite tick in that box.

What interior are you having?

Mine came with Eagle F1, so could be anything they decide.

There is a Porsche 718 GTS promo video available on YouTube. There are the occasional snippets of exhaust note but not enough to really hear properly.

That says to me it sounds pretty similar to the 718S.
This one? https://youtu.be/_KSj1CF-YYk
I can hear the car throughout, it’s just, er.. Exterior shots, it’s like a non-sound? Doesn’t do anything.. Very odd
Interior clunking / rattling sounds bad. Better towards the end

This sounds good though https://youtu.be/YyG_A5_Z3pQ

I’ve gone for high-gloss on the air intakes and sport design pack, so potentially could go Graphite or Black Gloss on the roll over bars.

This is the interior I’ve gone for...

Good choice Tim! People moan about the lack of auto a/c in a £70k car but not many seem unhappy that there’s bare black plastic on the exterior! I think the gloss black finish on the Sport Design package and vents is a must smile

It depends on the "look" you're going for. On my 981 CGTS I have satin platinum wheels which match the matt finish of the bare plastic nicely. If I'd had Turbo wheels then yes, gloss plastics would look better.

On the 718 GTS, I think satin black wheels work great with the unpainted plastics and a blackened Porsche logo on the rear.

I think it's good people have the choice smile

"it's just,er.." Well thanks for coming onto the thread to post that. Very insightful. Really helpful description. FFS.

Just give it a rest. The hope of this thread was to give those that have ordered or thinking of ordering a chance to discuss their order, delivery etc and to get excited about their new car. Why is it so difficult to let that happen without the usual snide remarks about the "noise, nasp, noise, nasp" and repeat and repeat and repeat. We have heard it all before and "er..." adds nothing. I hope that you feel pleased with yourself.

Hopefully pictures attached. Mine was completed on 24 Jan so should be with me in couple of weeks. I agree with views above that roll over bars look better painted. As you see I have not gone for GTS interior - didn't want a black interior so had little choice really. I have changed the interior door/dash trim to black aluminium to match steering wheel (silver is still shown in photo)

Thanks Yes getting quite excited now. Am still undecided on waiting until 1 March as I have a personal plate for it. Though it might be nice to have an"18, plate for a while

Do you think we can report him for harrassment? These old idoits think they’re some kind of Saint when it comes to 981s. As many mentioned if you like a car that only has sound advantage get a C12 Tractor!

Bit over sensitive around here - So nobody is allowed to express an opinion now?

I came to this thread looking for more info on the GTS. If you looked around you might find I’m interested in getting a 718 GTS myself https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

You also focussed only on part of my comments, I actually said that the interior sounded better towards the end.

But I’m not entitled to weigh up how I feel about the sound now?

I thought that when I read the comments, too.

It's a fair point that this is a thread for people ordering a 718GTS etc, but you were making an amusing response to a comment directly about the sound (the OP implication being that they were addressing the 'vs the 981GTS' thing).

As for those who have a 718GTS on order, bloody good for all of you! I miss my 981GTS every single day and I can tell you this - a F4T Porsche is a damn sight better than no Porsche at all.

I've got no problem with an opinion being expressed its just that when you have heard the same thing over and over again (often seemingly from people jumping on the bandwagon and/or with a vested interest) it does become a bit wearing particularly in a thread which has the purpose I stated. If the opinion was expressed in the threads discussing the merits or otherwise of the 718 I would not have reacted as I did.

I did focus on one part as that was the part that seemed to rate the noise especially given that you then go on to take the trouble to link the second video and comment that the 981 GTS in that "sounds good though" which clearly suggests that the 718 fails in comparison.

Feel free to weigh up how you feel about the sound but I would respectfully suggest that a thread with the purpose I stated is not the place to do it as it looks like yet another snide negative comparison, although I accept that was not your intention.

Anyway I can recommend the 718 as I have just sold my 718S for a GTS and contrary to what some would think I do appreciate the noise of a car and I have owned a boxster before along with an AMG 55 and two Astons. The 718 is a great car. If you look past the criticism you will find a brilliant car with a superb engine and one which with a sports exhaust at least has a sound that I like and which still feels special.

Any specific questions about the 718 I can help with just ask away. I am not trying to be confrontational but I suppose I am protective of the 718 as it is so good despite what others would have you believe.
