Yes I was at Silverstone on14 Feb driving 718 Boxster GTS I was first to drive it ! Felt a bit guilty hammering it around the course before it was run in ! Great fun though I have been there several times but this was my first experience of the lng straights and the second handling circuit. Some quite interesting bends on the new circuit! it was also raining which added to the fun!
Do you remember anything about the spec of the Boxster GTS they have there, @WG?

Guards red exterior and GTS Pack with Carmine stitching. Red dials for rev counter and Sport Chrono. It also had bucket seats which I found really difficult to get in and out of and too upright for me - though I did get used to them towards the end of the day. It also had a few electric gizmos such as blind spot warning ( or whatever its called! ) and front/ rear parking sensors with rear camera ( not that I used that much !!) . Surpisingly, I cannot comment on the sound system !!

Fair enough, sounds good.

Kind of a shame - will be cool to try the buckets, but not very similar to the sports seats plusses I will have in my Cayman!

Obvious question...
Been offered a Cayman 718 GTS. Fairly basic spec. but got PDK, heated seats, GTS interior and a couple of other bits - immediate delivery. Somebody's circumstances have changed.
Porsche Centre has offered 6% discount, plus £1k finance allowance.
Seems like an amazing deal - am I correct?
Works out under £500/month with a 10% deposit from me on a 3 year PCP. Seems crazy for a £65k car!!

Seems cheap. What APR and GFV they offering you?

To put it into perspective I'm paying 4.1% through non OPC finance.
Car = 70k
Deposit = 12%
My balloon = 36.7k
Monthly payment = £690
Term 48 months

Porsche (VW) Finance which is 6.4% but GFV of about £45k. I realise this is probably inflated but 36 months @ £500/month seems a steal - especially considering the discount.

Cracking deal. The £1k and 6% makes a massive difference. Around £4.9k total discount? I'd certainly go for it. The gfv means OPC expect the car to suffer 10% depreciation/year....Fantastic IF that holds true.

If that’s what they quoted you then I’d snap their arm off.

I would double check though as I have OPC quotes where the monthly is closer to 1000 per month than 500. On a 73k car

It's definitely correct. The £500/month is mainly down to the high residual value - which may, or may not, prove to be accurate. Worst case - stick to the mileage, pay £500 for 35 months and hand it back. Can't be bad for a £65k car. If you are getting quoted around £1000 - that's probably down to the higher list price (£8k more = £240/month approx. over 3 years) plus less/no discount will add at a rate of around £30/month for each £1k.
Yeah, total discount is about £5k.

Brilliant deal then!
What’s the story with the high residual may I ask?

Re the residual - I have no idea. Assume it is a tactic by VW Finance to keep monthly costs down, earn interest and sell cars. BUT they must be confident that the cars are going to be worth at least (or very close) to the figure otherwise they will be getting alot of cars just given back at end of term.

Apologies, I meant are you buying through an OPC? Regardless it sounds like an amazing deal (unless your mileage is something like 3 miles p/a lol

Well mine is back at the OPC on a trailer. I've done 300 miles and had it 2 weeks and its got an oil leak.

Don't know yet and won't until next week what is wrong with it or how long it will take to fix.

Gutted doesn't cover it.

Sorry to hear that .
As long as they don't give you one of these rubbishy old 6 cylinder jobs as a courtesy car you'll be ok.
Weather still crap so not missing much with it.

Not that good! I've got a M-B C Class which is a very good and capable car if either you are on the motorway all day,have no interest in cars or a very high boredom threshold. I frankly do not have enough years potentially left to be driving something like that anymore than I absolutely have to.

Whilst the weather is poor I would still have been out and about and looking forward to another weekend of cleaning and waxing the Gts before a run out on Sunday. Feeling really down about it now and a lingering concern about exactly what it is,how bad it is and if there are any long term issues.
