Yes, that is what I meant. And I don't think the PEC is the place to try it - my thought was that it may come in handy when manoeuvring and/or driving around London etc. Appreciate it's not really necessary on a track!
On all 4 of the PEC’s I’ve been on I’ve been asked if I’d like to take the car out of the circuit so I don’t see why you couldn’t spend 10 minutes in the car park practicing parking biggrin

So you drove it back to back with a 718 without it?
No, I'm comparing a 718 with it vs my 981 without. Without question at both high and low speeds I preferred the 718 steering. Now I have Pirelli N1 P0s on my 981 (as had the test car) I can be pretty sure it's not down to the tyres.

I paid my deposit back in Feb at Silverstone and am popping in tomorrow to go through everything, At the mo I’m thinking manual.

When I bought my 981 it was all email and internet first time in the showroom was for collection, but hey why not put clean underpants on and grab a free can of coke and physically get shown what’s what.

I will be the oracle on GTS by tomorrow evening.

My question now is, if it’s an end of Jan delivery do we not wait till 1st of March?

Yeah, I prefer the steering on my 718 CS to any of my previous 981's and 987's, it's not Power Steering Plus that's making the difference though!

I'm not suggesting for a second that it is - merely that the reduction in steering weight at low speeds does not detract from steering feel at higher ones - and some will prefer to have it as a result.

On a separate note, my OPC doesn’t have the balloon / GMFV figures on the GTS yet, so can’t say what monthly costs will be on PCP. Anyone have any word on when these will come out?

So now it's released I called up my dealer to try get my current order (718 base deposit down in August '17) swapped to a GTS. I had a delivery of April 2018 for the base Cayman anyway (cant really drive it any earlier in Canada) Porsche Vancouver tell me the wait will likely be halfway through summer and possibly longer if I change to the GTS as they already have quite a lot of GTS orders.
I concede, as a first time Porsche buyer, and also of such a low production vehicle, the allocation process has been a bit of a eye-opener. The dealer could be telling me a ruse but I'll never know for sure really. What they have said is that they had 1 GTS allocation, and as you can imagine that went in a flash. There are now at least multiple people on the wait list with no more allocations in sight.
They have also said now and in the past, they only get 1 or 2 (base and S models) allocated per month, so it could be a pretty long wait. Likely I wouldn't even be able to change from base to S without a considerable wait.
I wasn't stuck on the GTS, nor do I think I'll regret not getting it. For what it was though it seemed like a bit of a bargain. When you start speccing up Cayman S's (at least with what I'm speccing) you realize pretty quickly you hit the same price as the GTS, but then the GTS keeps on going with more and more specs included!
Anyway, it is what it is!

You could always get the bog standard AND order a GTS and then part ex or sell, if allocation is that small the depreciation would be Minimal..

Think I'm just about there with mine, this will be two firsts for me (first step into Porsche ownership and also first NEW car purchase) - any recommendations?

Nice spec - sensibly ( to my mind anyway) you’ve added the GTS unique alcantara / leather ( that was standard in 981 GTS)! and I wouldn’t waste another £2k on a few carbon strips and deviated stitching.... I think i’d add the alcantara sun visors though to replace the cheap and nasty feeling plastic ones.

I still can't get over the fact you have to pay for the "GTS interior" on a.........GTS!!

But then again, it's Porsche.
You didn’t on the 981 GTS.... unless you wanted deviated stitching, coloured tacho dial and carbon trim!

Same on the 718, aside from the leather dash. GTS interior is deviated stitching and carbon combined into one package.

Deposit placed at East London OPC. Expected / requested June build slot - they’re looking at one build per month and I’m their 5th GTS order. More orders than I thought they’d have had!

Balloon payments expected to be confirmed next week.

I am number one order at Silverstone and I’m being told March.

Which to be honest works well with new reg and the winter behind us.

I have gone for the ceramic protection waffle, has anyone else being sucked in and has anyone an opinion on it?
