The 718 GT4 might be arriving sooner than you think!

I also had a good look at the new lotus Exige last night..I agree with everything Mr D has said and i see myself buying that..I was a huge Lotus fan back in the 70's when as a kid i saw that Lotus Esprit coming out of the ocean..
I think Lotus are now finally in a very good place and are sticking to their core values, with great build quality on top..They deserve as much custom as they can cater for including yours truly..

My heart is in the new Exige launched yesterday, I said to myself if they release a charged cooled non CUP Exige (and cheaper) i'll buy it.
And yep they have launched a charged cooled 410HP 3.3 seconds Exige, The model I have been waiting for the last 4 or 5 years.
£85k and we have a drivers car which goes to 7k (unlike the 380) does not get heat soke (unlike the 380), nothing not to like in the Sport 410 Exige imo. Proper brakes, 3 way fully adjustable Nitrons, no modding, no dicking about for track, sounds perfect.
As new cars add tech, I have a need to re visit my Lotus years before I get too old, get some steering feel, sit low and enjoy driving again, nothing Lotus has made has done it for me the last 10 years, but yesterday they nailed it imo.
Agree with most of the above.... Nearly got myself into a 380 Sport a while back: awesome car for feedback/steering feel/rawness etc.... Only thing holding me back was how many bloody variations on the same theme Lotus keep churning out..... It feels like they’ve often brought out the next “upgraded” model before current customers have taken delivery of the “new/old” model....!!!And yep they have launched a charged cooled 410HP 3.3 seconds Exige, The model I have been waiting for the last 4 or 5 years.

Do you know what the noise level is? It was a big issue for me when I looked at this model family as available a year ago when then current versions were quoted at c107db static. Some of the LoT owners at Silverstone last month said noise was an issue on track days and some cars have been thrown off track at Hethel for being too loud (I assume with standard exhaust). Maybe a Lotus owner can chip in (sorry I know it is a GT4 thread)
Bell & Colville assured me they had a quieter track day system but they never followed up on my interest and I am sure not going to pursue a non-communicative supplier.

I think the models are now getting into linethe 430CUP was the best they could do they said, so while everyone said lets wait for a cup450 !!, the next step was to make a car lower down the range a bit cheaper, the cup 430 is £110k with options.
(also the gear box has hit a limit now)
the charged cooled 410 was a given imo. the 380 revs lower than the 350 ! and has a few issues so while great looking not for me, they then ***** over owners on the 380 CUP etc and started making too many models !!! only to be super seeded before deliveries of the old ones !!! 380 CUP is a dead horse model !!, best looking but £95k no ones going to buy the stock dealers have !!! and the 380 normal car has been canned now.
now the Evora and Exige all line up, there are only 3 Exige models now, 350, 410 Sport, 430 CUP and yes while they will dick about with ltd colors every month, I think the model line up might be stable now.

I wonder how Porsche will position the Spyder vs GT4.
Will it be lower like last time, or reverse as per the res of the line up.
Porsche must be careful how they price it
Don't think it matter what they charge for it... it will definitely sell out... and there is a huge pricing window between about £60K and £100K where the options for brand new/current dedicated platform sports cars are pretty limited imo. Will it be lower like last time, or reverse as per the res of the line up.
Porsche must be careful how they price it
New AM Vantage is more than £100K
New AMG GT is more than £100K
BMW have nothing
Audi R8 V10/Plus or RWS is more than £100K
TVR... is £90k
Jag F-Type is not really comparable dynamically - but is available V6S, R or SVR.
Alpine.. starts at £50k
To me Porsche pretty much have this dedicated platform sports cars segment largely to themselves at the point in the market other than Lotus who are trying to slice up their cake into as many cuts a possible with Exige and Evora taking a leaf from the Porsche book of finance, economic and creaming the market. - They even the top of the range offerings @ over £100k to cover every angle

It has probably been mentioned plenty of times before so please don’t shoot me down but I heard that it will be called GT4 RS and closer to the 981 with a NA 4.0 ( non GT) just over 400bhp and PDK option.
If so would be interesting to see how many people jump go PDK as it may get the PDK ‘S’ gearbox from the GT3.
Guessing with 0-62 times the new one as a manual and say 25bhp over the first will be around 4.2 compared to 4.4 but as PDK seems to be around 0.2 quicker and another 0.2 with launch control a 3.8 0-62 sounds very appealing.

I would imagine most are already allocated
I would say the next GT4 is likely to be over subscribed already, but none are allocated as such as the car hasn't been released!May as well throw your hat in the ring, I guess....
I’m kinda getting bored of all the to-ing and fro-ing regarding the speculation as to engine size/type in the 718 GT4: still nothing definitive out there, just lots of noise (pun intended ) and rumours.....!! The 981GT4 is an awesome car, whatever the next “Gen” becomes, and I’m chuffed to have owned one.....
