A road-going 911 RSR would be quite something. Would solve the problem of GT4 RS position in the model hierarchy as well. The mid-engined RS car becomes the ultimate in the GT line-up - what a way that would be to leave the 991 platform.
The Fabled 960!!!... lol..

The key point is he ordered one direct from Weissach, which indicates it's a race car/track car and not a road car.
Except...."It is the ultimate widow maker, good luck to my wife. I suggested a mandatory training session with purchase. They also think it's a good idea so that their customers won't be dying left and right."

The GT2 has always been called a widow maker.
Do you think someone who is a qualified racer would need a training session?

Not for him, no. I read that as other purchasers who may be far less experienced.

Have been out of the country/without internet for a couple of weeks, and have lost touch with the debate re. speculation over the Gen2 GT4.... Any new info forthcoming beyond the “probable 4L motor derived from the current 3.8L, either by bigger bore or stroking”....??

Or is it still all “up in the air”....??

It'll be a stroked 3.8, up to 4.0, with 420bhp. Manual only. Only the release date is unknown now.

Geneva 2019 is the latest guess.

That's quite a jump over the old car?

Not really, 3.8 @ 385PS extrapolated up to 4.0 would be 405PS so a few light tweaks would give the extra 15PS that's rumoured.

It is on paper but we know the 3.8 is capable of at least 400hp with just a tune to remove the detune.
From there, headers, intake+filters and tune will get you to 420hp.

Torque on the 4.0L will be interesting to see/feel

Yep, plus it has to provide a decent jump over the 718 GTS.

There is that... Also the GT4's torque is superb. Proper low down power, feels really strong and useable.

Will be interesting to see what the new one's is like. I've got my name down on a Spyder this time and may well keep the GT4.
Should provide an interesting comparison.

Got a phone-call from my OPC.

The owner has seen and heard the 718 GT4 IRL;

-4L 6F NASP
-420 HP
-First delivery with PDK, 6MT later on
-Expected spring 2019

Interesting. That all matches other rumours and info except the PDK part...

Yes, this time round IMHO I don't think the take up is going to be as great as the 981 Gt4 so any buyer with previous OPC history will be in with a chance

Very unlikely that the GT4 will come with PDK at all.
The rest of the information seems to be true.

They will build more than last time and sell every single one of them.... allocations will be random, but being OPC friendly ....being a good customer, by either reselling through them or buying lots of cars....will obviously help.
Expect to see high number of low mileage cars reappear for resale above list.

If you want one and don’t get a list allocation...prepare to pay over list.
It’s the circle of life.
