Based on these pictures and the last spyder/gt4 similarities, i'd say the first pics i posted are of the GT4 and the recent ones are GT4RS.
Perhaps a GT4/Spyder with F4T and GT4RS with 4.0?
IMHO the first pics are the finished car. The second pics are an earlier development mule with bodywork they've decided against - it's clearly much more roughly finished.Perhaps a GT4/Spyder with F4T and GT4RS with 4.0?

Exhaust and diffuser are finished IMHO. No tape/bodges, it looks showroom ready to me.
GT3 RS and GT4 were launched at the same Geneva show last time (2015): https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/products/geneva-in...
I wonder if the new style exhaust on these spy shots are someone linked to the much mooted new EEC emissions regs which is compulsory for all new EU built cars from September 2018. Have to say... the Spyder looks good...purposeful and relatively clean in comparison to some of the latest releases(GT2RS I’m talking about you!!)
I’d think about buying it on looks and roof-less-ness alone...even if it came with a Flat 6/4 Turbo, so long as they make it sound good.
Spyder is a different proposition to the GT car so they is more leeway with the power unit, although NA is usually preferable for al fresco driving experience

I cant see why they would have allowed photos to be taken of the second one if its not to be built. These "spy shots" are probably set up by Porsche to start building the excitement, hence no video taken and no sound available. If they were taken by a enthusiast, the person who took them must know the whole Porsche owners community is anxiously waiting to find out which engine it is going to get!Guess we'll find out in next 2-3 months.

There are regular spy-shot takers who hang out near the 'Ring and the Porsche factory (among others).rkwm1 said:

Allowed, it's Porsche who release them ;-)you can time the release shots like clockwork after each model comes out.
I think the GTS/Sport Design bumper is still for mule purposes only. 981 GT4/Spyder mules also sported GTS front and rear ends until very close to the actual release, if memory serves. Suspect the Spyder will once again share it's nose with the GT4.
I am also hoping for a Geneva launch, but dealer principal seems to think it is more likely going to be Frankfurt...they may want to focus all of the attention on Geneva at the GT3RS...

As late as September next year for launch? So realistically, early 2019 for the first cars to land in owners' hands, then. Seems a while away, but I suppose we are almost in to 2018 already, so...I am also hoping for a Geneva launch, but dealer principal seems to think it is more likely going to be Frankfurt...they may want to focus all of the attention on Geneva at the GT3RS...

I've just checked Google images from 2014/2015 - all GT4 mules have the 'correct' GT4 nose as do all Spyder mules. One of the Spyders had a non-diffuser rear bumper but the fronts were always the same as the finished car.Based on that, I'd say the GTS front end is very likely what we'll get given that the most finished mules seem to have it. It would be odd to test the engine without the correct cooling provided by the front bumper's air flow.

Maybe with the Turbo engine the front end is of less consequence!. Based on that, I'd say the GTS front end is very likely what we'll get given that the most finished mules seem to have it. It would be odd to test the engine without the correct cooling provided by the front bumper's air flow.
(obviously i know that Turbo engine heat management is always an issue... ^ its called a joke.)
True, but that's not what Porsche have done before. GT3, GT3 RS, GT4 and Spyder mules that I've seen over the last few years have always had the "correct" bumpers on for development. Surely if they're going to use a different one in production they'll need to test air flow, handling, fitment etc.
Doesn't make sense to me, but I'll shut up about it now!
