If it sounds great inside, but is quieter outside, then that's no bad thing in my book. Means circuits like Brands Hatch would be doable again.

I had a go in a 488GTB at the Ferrari Silverstone bash a while back, and that sounded fantastic inside, but pretty dull when heard from side of track. Let's hope the GT4 is like that, because the drive-bys we have heard aren't terribly inspiring.

The drive bys to date have been CS cars - I don’t think they will have the same exhaust as the road cars

There are drive-by video clips of a couple of Spyders - one on a US highway and one at the Nordschleife. They will have the road exhausts and they sound a bit pants.

My dealer (FWIW) told me PDK is optional.

I quess we `ll just have to wait an see what is comming.

If no PDK option I`m out of the game for sure.
Me too, from a long list of manuals, I got a 981 Cayman GTS with pdk, belted round the Alps like there's no way I could in a manual, so I'd be speccing pdk, or just have to really think hard!!! Then probably just get it because! Damn!!!

^ I used to have an 981CGTS, fully specced, PDK,PCCB, etc etc, IMHO the combination NASPengine and PDK in this car was the best I've ever experienced , the steering was a let down to me, and the main reason I sold the car.

I also have test-driven all 718 versions, with PDK, and to me the turbo-PDK combo is not that refined compared to the NASP-PDK one. So for me the most important reason to want a 718 GT4-PDK, given it will be an NASP engine, and available of course ( and I do hope Porsche wil let its costumers have the choice between MT-PDK)

Really counting the days for the official Porsche specs to come out.

I will delighted if it is quieter ...

A quiet setting for certain track days would be even better !!

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t offer the car in a manua?

Has anyone actually managed to leave a deposit/secure a slot on one of these?

My local (claims) to have no idea abt the upcoming GT4

why do people think they can order a car which does not even exist ? there is no car so no slots.

With BMW you can leave refundable holding deposits even before a car comes into existence. You can get your money back any time.

It doesn't work that way with Porsche, although it may have done in the past.

A car needs to be launched, and a build slot assigned to the dealer, for a car to be ordered and a deposit taken.

BMW are very open with what car is due out way in advance, I bet you cannot leave a deposit on M2 GTS direct with BMW, a dealer might take a holding fee, but that would be daft and with BMW will not secure a slot.

some dealers do take money I agree but again it's not a deposit and has nothing to do with BMW or Porsche if a dealer decides to take money from you it just sits in the dealers bank.

OPC's ran into too many issues taking money from people and then said people not getting cars, if you trust your dealer you pay a deposit when you get allocated a slot, I have never paid a holding fee either on my GT4 or latest GT3.

people love boasting on here about leaving a holding fee then 1st to kick off when they end up with no car.
Holding fees kept by dealers are not deposits.

Porsche Center Bolton had to pay out 30-40k to a customer promised a 997 RS 4.0 - I bet they wont promise that sort of stuff again, from a dealers perspective much better to keep your cards close and use it as leverage and bargaining chips depending on whats more profitable for the business - maybe you can sell a loaded cayenne turbo S / panamera that way etc!

A completely different scenario as the Porsche Bolton salesman lied and said they didnt get an allocation when clearly they did and he gave the allocation to someone further down the line.

Yep, I read the article a while back and the guy who sued had an email stating he was first in line should the OPC get an allocation. They got a single car allocated but it was sold to someone else.

A fairly open and shut case with very specific details.
