UPDATE - 16.08.18

Porsche is putting the finishing touches to its sharpest and fastest Boxster yet, as shown by new spy pictures of an undisguised 718 Boxster Spyder being flung around the carousel at the Nurburgring. Due for reveal later this summer before arriving on roads in the winter, the new, driver-focused drop-top will eschew turbocharged boxer power for - hooray - a naturally aspirated flat six, plucked directly from the 911 GT3.

What output the motor, which is capable of revving to 9000rpm in the GT3, will produce in the Boxster is yet to be revealed. There is, however, growing suspicion that the peak hp figure could start with a 4, which would make this midship convertible, a successor to a car that pushed the Boxster Spyder bar up into the stratosphere, one very serious performance proposition. We await the car's launch with bated breath.

Not sure on the validity of this as a full fat or mildly detuned GT3 engine would push the price of a 718 Spyder or GT4 way above the previous price point.
More likely to be a 4 litre version of the previous 3.8 engine used in the 981.

It’s all gone a little quite.

What's the likelihood of both Spyder and GT4 being announced together and when ?

Seems both are about ready, do Porsche need to wait for a motor show to announce ?

Same test session I think we've seen before but with no other cars around, a much better sound experience.

Correct, I was told they will push the button on the new 992 first as this will bring a bigger audience, which = more money.

I guess we will all just have to sit tight and wait and see. The new car is coming with the new emissions filter and they are apparently getting better results with the new turbo charged engine going in the new 992. The 4.0 is apparently not producing as good emission results due to being N/A, I think we can safely say it’s going to be N/A. What was pointed out to me is they will have better emissions with the pdk box, so they may offer this to help with emission targets as every car counts.

Car should apparently be on the roads by the 2nd quarter next year.

Has anyone heard anything about the revised suspension?
Yes, they’re struggling with filter on the N/a cars.
The GT4 and the Spyder are 4.0l n/a and 420hp. I’ve got pics of the finished cars but can’t post them.
Sorry, forgot to ask which gearboxes!

That sounds like turbo, but a way nicer sounding turbo, the current NA models have that no scream but you can tell there in the high rev range. This sounds like it's shifting earlier. Deffo sounds like a Turbo motor.

It’s not a Turbo, it’s n/a.
Probably what an n/a sounds like with a particulate filter...

Interesting, the rear spoiler looks larger than the last model, it also appears to be curved slightly on the outer sections.

Car looks pretty complete, still hard to see a close up of the exhausts mind.

My thoughts are Porsche won’t wait for any particular motor show and it will just appear on the Porsche configuration tool with out prior notice. They don’t need to market this car, I would imagine most allocations are already spoken for.

I can’t see this being a bigger run than the last model, there could be a smaller build window with a bulk of cars all turning up at the same time due to the factory shut down as they will won’t to churn out as many none GT cars as possible.

Compare to the current, NA higher revs and this new one just doesn't seem to have that NA peak sound change at the last 1000rpm. It sounds very same across the rev range.

No guessing involved.

Not my place to say anymore, but we aren’t far off.

Got a Spyder lined up in principle, and a GT4 as a second option. Wonder if that is the right priority order... 🤔
