I think Porsche will carry over the current differences between Spyder & GT4. GT4 likely to get a higher power bump over the Spyder (as it does currently), the GT4 will get some of its suspension bits from the GT division; whereas the Spyder does not (as currently it does), the GT4 will get different tyres as its more track focused (as it currently does) etc etc. As currently i don't see the new Spyder being a roofless GT4.
718 Caysters currently share exactly the same engines and outputs, unlike the 981 versions, so the new GT4/Spyder would match if the rumours are true. The test mules seem to have the same brakes this time, so the rumours appear to hold water at least superficially.

Porsche could go either way I guess, and we'll find out soon enough.
As you say Porsche could go either way. I would still be surprised if all that differentiates the new Spyder from the GT4 is its roof. Surely there has to be a difference between a GT product & a non GT product.

Well the upcoming 911 Speedster is a GT product, so who's to say the 718 Spyder isn't one?

I think there could well be some small differences but I think they'll be much more closely aligned this time around.

Its a GT product like the 911 R is a GT product... so not a GT product for the track... but made with GT underpinnings. lol.
Marketing BS.

I would pay £100k for that.

annoying that Porsche won't make anything like that :-(
I'd pay more.

They've built it already. They just need to build them for customers now!

Its wholy at the IR's discretion on whether any profits derived from flipping is deemed to be taxable income or unearned income..I suspect that if an individual who's flipped more than a couple of cars for profit then the IR would classify him as a trader resulting in the profits being classed as taxable income.
Knowing my local OPC's DP pretty well i'm very confident he wouldn't be complicit in any dubious acts of receiving any form of bribery..After all they earn circa £150k per annum plus benefits meaning they earn more than the majority of his customers..
In terms of the same guy receiving all the special cars i'm pretty sure its because he/she is the OPC's biggest customer in terms of buying other Porsches, therefore very awkward for the DP not to yield to his demands especially if this extremely 'well heeled' individual threatens to take his business elsewhere..
He might even have got over the DP's head directly to Porsche GB Hq or the owner of the franchise..This is probably quite common practice in many OPCs across the UK..
The secret is to be the biggest fish in the pond and to achieve that you sometimes have to find another smaller pond with smaller fish than yourself..Does anyone know of one by any chance..?

It seems somebody got called to the DP's office today and got a dressing-down. How things change in the space of 6 hours!

I don't have the time to address this post properly at the moment, but i'll get back to it soon.

No, just a slightly more angular revision on the split 5 spoke / 10 spoke design. Still look like the GT design. Just sharpened up… like the rest of the car actually, where the 981 was a bit more rounded in some areas… almost like the difference between the 991.1 and 991.2 GT3s.

If I'm reading this right, we should go into the DP's office, take our clothes off and stand there naked for 6 hours until they yield and lets us have the car?

I'll be honest.... not sure I could do that... I mean the DP's office is all glass.
Is that how it works in the UK...? smile)

Had my deposit returned on a 981 Spyder in 2016 at the end of the production run
Bought an overs one from OPC. 10k mikes later and a recent trip to the Alps still glad I bought one.The overs/flipping is a big shame hope to get an opportunity for the next generation one.
Let’s see no allocation will keep the 981

I think the Spyder rear looks much nicer the the GT4.

I’m not sure either are quite right , both a bit Robocop - but agree , works better on the Spyder smile
Do you think the rear diffuser bit is final? Looks to me like it's off the current car, and adapted for new new exhaust position, without sorting the hole that's left in the middle.

It's been on all the mules, so I reckon it's pretty final. Shame it looks like the GT86:

After taking a closer look, i'm starting to think the same as you..There is an element of disguise compared to how the finalised version will look IMO..To what degree its difficult to tell from these pics..I hope the final version is more elegant and cohesive as it really stands out on these pics..And not in a good way..!

First of all i do remember you writing a while ago something along the lines, that if somebody at the OPC received a 3RS and flipped it you would be having serious words with the DP and taking you business elsewhere. What's changed?

So what it seems your are describing to me at the Dick Lovett dealerships is a PONZI scheme. Customers are encouraged to keep purchasing cars in the hope that they will get the "golden ticket" allocation when this is never going to happen.

You have purchased several cars from them. I guess you have taken a hit on most of these cars in the hope of getting a allocation for a RS/limited edition car. Yet these cars going to one customer who is pals with Peter Lovett. This person then flips pretty much straight away for huge profits. While you keep buying, increasing the turnover for OPC and in turn increasing the amount the DP gets paid in bonuses, hoping to climb up that ladder to get that special car which will be worth a significant amount more than you paid(PONZI Scheme ring a bell?).

You are now left with £1000's of loss in depreciation on the cars you have purchased. A GT3 that you were not allowed to flip as it would mean that you are no longer considered for the 'special car' which you were not going to get in the first place and a now a GT3, which is dropping in price daily!

In the meantime Lovett's/ Porsche GB's pal has flipped all the cars and is now waiting for delivery of i guess GT4, Spyder and Speedster.

Let's say they made £250K on GT2RS, £100K on GT3RS, £50K and they get £75K for the Turbo S, thats £475K cash in hand and they've still got cars to come. Let's repeat that, £475K tax free in 12 months that this "well healed" individual has added to the coffers (hate to repeat myself, but does Ponzi/ Madoff ring a bell)!

They still also have a GT4, Spyder and Speedster to come.

Tell your DP i'm happy to drop £100k in depreciation per annum if i can get the same deal as above but i'm pretty sure i know where he tell me to go rofl

With regards your DP's salary, one thing i have seen too many times in life is never to underestimate somebody's greed!

As for the small pond, i'm afraid there are sharks in pretty much all of them now. I will once again repeat myself and say that there are a small amount of OPC's that do deal fairly but they are becoming rarer than the 1967 911R !!

Ponzi Ponzi Ponzi

I thought that it looks a bit unfinished, but its the one that thing has been consistent on all mules that i have seen.

First of all i'm naturally optimistic and have spent many years nurturing a good relationship with my OPC..They have always been upfront with me and never coerced me to buy normal cars in the promise of a special one..I'm still hopeful of getting an RS if a second batch should arise..In the event i don't get one and a VIP gets one instead who already got one in the first batch then i won't be a happy bunny.
All my friends will testify that i'm a great judge of character and have a knack of sniffing out the truth in people..I'm suspicious enough as a person not to be led up the garden path and don't suffer fools gladly.!
Secondly this practice of giving special cars to their best customers is pretty standard industry practice, which doesn't condone it, merely having to accept it.
As i said before depending on whether i get an RS or not i'm considering buying other makes of fun cars..I love the new Lotus Exige 410 Sport and will have a get a Ferrari at some point.
The fun is all in the chase as we don't exactly live in a fast car friendly country..!
