adding 50bhp to a Spyder !
When did Porsche add 50hp to any model refresh? They're thinking 2 or 3 refreshes ahead not just about the next production run. It's usually 15 - 20 horses and that would take the GT4 over 400hp. Frankly people would flock to buy the detuned GT3 unit at a matching 385hp!!

Yes but detuning a 493bhp car to 400 bhp is probably a bad idea hence the higher increase this time round...

Its true so believe it. I was told ages ago. 425 I agree is a good hike but when using the new 4 litre, you can't dumb it down so much. Autocar are I think on the money with the power. GT4 could see 430bhp.

Why don't you cancel your GT3 allocation and go for one of these instead.
Give the GT3 to someone who really wants one? Just a though smile
If I give up my slot some one will buy it to flip it , all these cars get flipped sooner than later, GT4 with 4 owners 991 RS with 4+ owners is quite common.
Top 555 can JZM have cars for sale already !

I would say 60% owners don't really want them ,at least if I buy it i'll drive the bloody thing :-)

mine was one of the 1st GT4 and I still have it , it's trade value is less than I paid.

Autocar getting it right lol! Why go to the expensive trouble of taking an engine and then change all the internals or why take a 500hp engine and reduce/restrict to 425hp it will be dire!
It's going to be 400hp F4T!
Or they the can take the F6T bore out to accommodate the 2.5 f4t pistons and rings, remachine the head and all other f6t internals ie crank remain the same give it 425hp job done ! Or just remove the turbo off the new 911 turbo which yet again gives you a 3.8f6 with circa 425hp which is probably the cheapest option!

It' as it says, a 4 litre from the GT3 with some different internal engineering. My masseuse knows everything.... smile

Wait and see smile

So you're going to have it then? But what about the £20k in interest? God i couldn't do that.... I wouldn't sleep at night knowing it was costing me £54.79 per day in interest! Yikes! wink I think you should pass ...

putting a GT3 engine in a spyder/GT4 ruins the whole hierachy, firmly stepping on the 911s toes.

45k engine in a 65k car? lol!

ill believe it when I see it, 3.0t 400 bhp more likely imo.

It's going to be more expensive due to the more special motor. I recon 80k plus options so you'll be looking at 90k for a half decent spec.

Why does everyone doubt the 4 litre. It makes perfect sense.

well a GT3 engine detuned to 7700 RPM and 100 bhp down is gonna be the most reliable thing ever this side of a LS6....

another point is everything seems to yell GT3 engine confirmed!! just because Preuninger said NA lol I wouldnt count out a busload of 3.8 9A1 engines sitting on the shelf lol...

where has any one official said anything about a 4.0?
a standard 3.8 is 15 bhp up on a 981 GT4 lol right on the money!

It's a 4 litre 100% from the GT3 but with slightly different internals. I have a good lead into the factory.
The fact that Autocar have now said the same thing is pretty compelling evidence.

The thing is if it has different internals it's then not a GT3 engine !!!

The current GT4 can be retuned back to 435BHp cheaply because it has the same internals as a 911.

So we may get a 4.0 new engine based on the GT3 design :-)

Hope you are right. My gut feel is that Porsche will be more conservative.

Can it be retuned within warranty? With powerkit for example?

Its so true but I just do it because people are coming back with frankly crazy ideas that it'll be a flat 4 turbo!

911R has now said '4.0 new engine based on the GT3 design' so he'll use that as an "I told you so' when its confirmed which is what Ive been saying all along... smile

People should just believe me and a couple of others on here and be done with it as its come from a very reliable source!

From Spyder thread

"I am in the opposite camp would like to raise the seat .OPC said no would invalidate warranty on the 981 .In hindsight possibly have gone with the 918 seats £1K extra on the Spyder at the time as they have high adjustment"

My acupuncturist claims it will be a 6 cylinder 3 litre turbo and she's always on point...

lol am not saying any thing as I have zero info on the new Gt4 atm.

Just stated in if has new internals it's not then a GT3 engine.
