It can be based on an RS, if an RS is a production model.
In fact the first GT3 RS (996), existed purely as a homolgation run for suspension mounts for the next seasons race car.
Thanks. Maybe a surprise reveal of one soon then, as the clubsport sound nothing like the this GT4. In fact the first GT3 RS (996), existed purely as a homolgation run for suspension mounts for the next seasons race car.
Can the GPF real make that much difference to the sound?

I thought the new emission piece also had an effect on the aftermarket?
User sonorous had a nice explanation on RL." I don't know much about the new particulate filters or how Porsche will implement them. However, I did some brief research about it online and it appears that it will be implemented in a very similar way as a catalytic converter. It can be a separate unit or integrated into one of the existing cats. So it seems to me that (assuming particulate filters do impact sound negatively in the Porsche implementation) solving that problem will be the same as the cat problem. Plenty of vendors supply race headers. Depending on where you live (especially in the US) it may be more or less difficult to deal with the local emissions regulations. So I can't see how anyone would be screwed. If any 718 GT4 owner wants to fix the potential sound issue, it should be pretty straight forward.
This is a very technical presentation on the topic of particulate filter implementations: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/fi...12_bischof....

Possibly an important Porsche announcement is coming, clues came from the latest Evo magazine and the subscribers cover leaflet.
The next Evo magazine will be delayed due to a manufacturer's "exciting new car embargo" which means a late November release.
Just so happens the next issue is a 70th Anniversary of Porsche special.

I don't care anymore if it's got a 600hp N/A 10000rpm 6 litre V12 and weighs 1000kg. It's getting boring. Someone who works for Porsche just FFS spill the beans!!
After using mine, along with a number of others, at Oulton Park yesterday I'm inclined to agree! Although I'm still interested to see the new one when it finally arrives, I just can't see how much more enjoyable it can be over the original. Unless people get more enjoyment from making money on one rather than from driving it!I don't care anymore if it's got a 600hp N/A 10000rpm 6 litre V12 and weighs 1000kg. It's getting boring.
