Have also been informed it’s 425bhp NA with pdk as an option. factory employee was the source.

PDK or PDK S though?

Would take a 'manuel' before a basic PDK GT4. PDK S may be worth speccing but only up to c £2k option cost. Can't see it being parity pricing with 'manuel' as per GT3.

My thoughts too on PDK. I think people will want PDK-S but I wonder if it'll be regular PDK that's available.

I'd be tempted to get a PDK if it was the S version..It comes down on expected usage as PDK for mostly Track and good old Manual for fun road driving.

Take it as you will 425bhp which we sort of already knew, PDK, new engine, was told my a source that usually comes up trumps
I've heard it will be manual only, with PDK for RS version. How accurate that is, i don't know!

I’m ready to pull the pin on Specing one on day of release, as I did my 992, as I’ve always said Goodwood release. I genuinely doubt an RS version as will impact on GT3 if not the new GT4 May do yet! We will see soon

Accepting that PDK S is preferable (no creep) is it really such a big deal?

What’s the difference between the 2? Being used to PDK on my CGTS which is already a weapon of gearbox.

Its lighter to start off..The cogs are smaller and stronger to withstand prolonged hard track abuse..Top speed is only achieved in seventh gear and all gears are shorter and closer ratioed.
The twin clutch is also stronger hence the lack of creep function..Can't think of anything else.....hang on, the changes are sharper and faster plus much more aggressive in sport mode.

Was enquiring about a GT4 at my local dealer yesterday. Got talking to the salesman about the new one (he's been there over 10 yrs, knows his stuff). He confirmed the new GT4 is 4L. Said they are producing greater number this time.

Would make sense as they increased production numbers on all the latest gt cars, no reason not to do the same.

I really fancy this 718 gt4 if it’s a 4.0 NA

If the 718 GT4 is 4.0 NA Manual, and produced in greater numbers, this will surely drive down prices on the 981 GT4?
Should I postpone the purchase of a 2016 GT4 (at £79k) for the above reason, and hope there's a slim chance of getting a 718 GT4??

A 4.0 NA Cayman is some prospect... When will the first customer specced ones actually arrive in uk?

My gut feeling is that dynamically the 718 will be far superior and it will be much quicker around a circuit, but, as we've seen with GPF across the board, it just won't please the ear buds and for me, sound is a big ingredient for a drivers car.

981 GT4 is where the last true Cayman sits for me as a full experience.

Or you could look at it the other way and say that the few hundred UK 981 GT4s will become sought after as they were the "original" GT4 before legislation and auto boxes took over. Remember, they're not exactly a poor car - ECOTY 2015 is only 4 years ago....

Yeah, I can't believe the novelty hasn't passed on these yet.
The pops would be fantastic if l was nearer 17 than 50...
I mean what mentality wants fake noises on a 100k car?! It's naff in the extreme.
