Well, given the rumours on other threads that the factory is to close from April to September, I cannot see a launch until much later in the year - certainly not at Geneva 18n UNLESS the want to maintain interest while no cars are available fo r delivery !

One of the guys at opc was telling me something about this. Cant they build at another factory instead?

She can see some GT3RS's in production now so must be the first batch of press / factory cars to be built. Would suggest Geneva for the RS. She said that there are no GT4's in the production though so unlikely for Geneva I would imagine at this stage.

Gutted.

Does she know anything about engine in RS? 4.2?

There is usually a fair gap between announcement and production of these cars anyway... November is only a little longer to wait than late September/October....
Anyway, would line up with the projection that there will be no MY2018 GT4 and that is will be ready for 2019, potentially with a new platform.

I think they’ll put the 4.0 in the GT3RS and a highly (higher) tuned 3.8 in the new GT4.

4.0 in both, she says... Although slightly different internals I would imagine.

It would be great if they did an RS version of the GT4 though!

If there is going to be a new Gt4 this year at Geneva then some info should come through in next couple of weeks . I seem to recall but may be wrong that info on the 981gt4 was released some time before the show started

Yes I very much doubt it will be Geneva. I’d be more inclined to think Frankfurt later in the year or Geneva 2019 due to the extended shut down for the reengineering and alterations needed to cope with the new and far more strict emissions regulations. New diesel but also now apparently petrol particle type filters on all models which is the only way they can get the current engines through the tests.

New diesel 3 litre cayenne about to be announced she says but no faster v8 diesel for the time being or maybe ever, which is sad news.

They reckon diesel will account for only 15% of uk car sales by 2025. The cayenne S diesel is an economical rocket ship though! I love mine and a fast petrol SUV is just massively uneconomical. Hybrid is what we’ll be driving but a diesel still makes for a better Cayenne.

Apparently the only car Porsche will be building between about May and Sept is the diesel Macan. Everything else is on hold.

As the owner of an S Diesel that makes me happy assuming it doesn't get taxed to oblviion! Mine is a year old so Euro 6 compliant. I nearly bought an ex-demo Hybrid before ordering the S Diesel but because of a) how it drove and b) how we use our car it just didn't make sense. 10 months old and 15,000 mile on the clock.

my understanding is that Porsche will be suspending production of all UK/EU petrol engines for a few months but production will continue for USA and RoW as they are not subject to new emissions laws. Now here's a thought -- this will free up the "normal" UK build slots which could be filled by larger engines Spyder and GT 4 which due to their lower production numbers may not be subject to same emissions rule - just a thought !

Couldn't agree more, had ours for 13 months now done 11,000 miles, find myself using it more than the Cayman
