So judging by the large amount of articles suddenly appearing on line saying that this could be a GT4RS, i now am convinced more than ever it will be a 4.0l RS model launched at Geneva.

Just because you wish it won't make it so. You've been trying to convince yourself it's coming for months!

I seriously doubt it'll be badged RS. Why badge the entry level product with the top product's label?

the autocar article early say that they are speculating that it may wear the RS badge.

it's all speculation but it gives me hope!

Anyone getting early letter of intent from OPC?

Will it be same story as GT3, i.e. need to buy 3 cars/year to get one of these?

In view of the recent images seems the car is pretty much complete

Geneva announcement and late 2018 release?

I have an option to buy. Also got offered a late GT3 last week. Don't know about having to buy so many cars or anything like that. Used to think it was this way, but turns out it boils down to just having a good relationship with the sales team at the dealer and being able to move fast when offered a slot.

I put in a LOI in to my OPC back in 2016! I'am in regular contact with my OPC - bought new Cayenne the other week & they know what road trips I have planned if I was to get one. I am as hopeful as one can be. However, Walliser has been quoted that Porsche underestimated demand for the GT4 & that this time round they will satisfy demand. So may not have to have bought several new Porsche's or be a you tube vlogger to buy he next GT4 laugh

I personally can’t see porsche making anymore of the new 718 GT4 than the last 981 GT4. This has been proven with the recently released GT3. Numbers will be very similar to the previous GT3. These are halo cars and draw interest to the brand and an example of this is how well 981 gts and 997 gts prices are holding up. Porsche know what they are doing and are very good at creating hype. I personally think the 718 gt4 will be the car to watch, the first GT4 was massively successful with its 3.8 and price point. The porsche GT department have had the best part of 3 years to improve on this and if rumours are true and it is NA with improved GT suspension front and back we could be in for a really really good car for its price point in the market place. I have been watching the 981 gt4 market hoping prices will soften into the high 60s but at the mo good 981 GTS cars still making low 60s so this is very unlikely to happen.

Can I ask what the story behind the GT3 allocation? It is certainly late..

Yep this is correct.

No way will they 'satisfy demand. That's not GT cars are for. Fewer GT cars sell more mainstream Porsches.

Fewer gen 2 than gen 1 GT3s. RS will be the same.

718 GT4 c 450 ish.

I understand Walliser was referring to the race variant of GT4?

Anyway, my local OPC doesn't inspire me with confidence...and many other OPCs told me it's all about number of cars ourchased per year.

Let’s hope they sort out the rear-end pretty sharpish then— it’s ugly....

i am glad some people are still getting offered a slot. I, on the other hand, instead got a sorry, no more allocations, but we do have a miami blue one coming unregistered, and you can buy that for 190k. Thanks, but no thanks. I thought OPCs were not allowed to do that now anyway?

Also, how many of these go to customers who sell it after 1 year / <4k miles ?

They should sell it to loyal customers who drive and keep it.

I seems to me Porsche fleet business men are in a preferable position as they let OPCs increase their yearly profit...

GT cars then are put back on the used market after few drives.

More like 6 cars/year... Which must then be sold back to Porsche at a substantial loss.... It’s a total joke imo.... My OPC told me that they were “cutting down” on this behaviour, but then proceeded to give ALL Gen2 GT3 allocations to peeps who acted exactly in the above way....!!!

The upcoming track-only GT4 Clubsport will feature a 4.0 litre NASP engine. Hence I'd expect the same for the roadgoing GT4

Whether it will be an upgraded vanilla or a proper motorsport version is not yet clear. There is a good reason for Porsche to make a step change with their latest version as comptition is heating up. Mercedes has launched it's GT4 version of the AMG GT and Audi the R8 equivalent. Both are at least one level (in performance but unfortunately also in price) above the current Cayman version.
