Haha Twinfan! You know I love a good wind up!

Honestly though, I specced one last night for fun and got a call back this morning from the OPC. I sent the build to a different OPC than the one I’m getting my GTS through ( Because I think they’re probably sick of me too) and got a call back this morning. Slightly irritatingly I missed the call but this makes me think they have allocations?

Anyway. Didn’t want to chat to the bloke and find out this is the one model everyone thinks is ste. Depreciation and resale definitely matter on that kind of coin

Update: the call back I missed was a courtesy call to remind me I’m a peasant and have no chance of getting near one.
Know your place!!!

Not at Geneva obviously, so a random reveal later in the year and the car shown in the flesh at the next available show.

No one knows. Infact I don't think there has been any official announcement from Porsche about either car. Although judging by the mules we have all seen we hopefully should hear something this year. My guess is a reveal/announcement later this year with a physical car late 2019. This would fit in with Porsche four-year model cycle.

That sounds very late. The 991.1 GT3 RS was launched at Geneva at the same time as the 981 GT4. Given the state of the mules we've seen, and that the GT3 RS was winter testing alongside the GT4 and Spyder very recently, I'd say the car was pretty much complete. The 992 will also be out later this year and that will be the big focus for end 2018.

I think a formal release will come soon, and actual car deliveries will be late this year. Just a guess though!

Hope you are right laugh You are probably right that reveal will be sooner - maybe before summer; but with factory shut down I doubt we'll be seeing any physical cars this year.

GT3 RS number will be very limited due to the st down. They won't be able to make GT4's alongside the RS' due to limited capacity so there is no point in releasing it yet, its as simple as that.

It could be a while yet until we see it and cars I would think will be more like 2019 in my view...

Does the factory shutdown affect Cayman models? I thought it was Stuttgart only, not Osnabruck...

Cayman / Boxster production was shifted to Stuttgart in 2016.

There was some speculation earlier in this thread to the contrary.

People keep on talking about this shutdown and yet European/US deliveries don't seem to be particularly affected nor does PAG seem to be expecting vastly different production numbers per their filings afaik.....

It’s defintely happening...popped into an OPC today...they showed me their ordering system with build slots/available cars today it’s blank for the summer months.

Ok so why is it no one else anywhere in the world (germany/US especially which are 2 larger markets for PAG than the UK) seems to have heard of this shutdown or have deliveries cancelled?

No real surprise really
Think Porsche had it's hands tied somewhat with the GT3 and it's 4L engine and had to get them made and sold asap due to the new regs coming in for Europe in September and so rushed the programme on, and what that means for the 4L engine I don't know.
Anyone's guess when we might see a more powerful 718 over the GTS and what it might be, as no one knows on here that's for sure

What is the regulation you are referring to?

If only the UK market is affected by the factory shutdown; is it inconceivable that the reason behind this anomaly is currently the UK is much less profitable due to the exchange rate.
If factory capacity is adversely affected it makes more sense to temporarily halt deliveries to the less profitable UK..Any other right hand drive markets affected i wonder...!

The shut down is affecting petrol engine cars for EU and UK only and is related to the new EU Emissions Laws. Rest of World is not affected and I have read that USA have in fact seen reduced shipments so far this year as production has focussed on UK/EU. I was told by my OPC When picking up my GTS a few weeks ago that they were having to spec cars for stock to take them over the summer shutdown and had been given more production slots to facilitate this.

Given the constraints on emissions, the shut-down, etc., my bet is they will announce Boxster Spyder and Cayman R in September. It will have a 2.5 flat-4 turbo engine 20bhp up on the GTS. It won't be a "Motorsport" car (so not contradicting utterings of AP etc), and will test demand for the turbo engine from "GT" buyers.
