Twin fan is also right in my opinion. Its not going to be called the 718, it'll just be GT4 and Spyder.
+1

No reason why it would be called a 718.

Simply GT4 and Spyder.

Meantime, GT4 clubsport appears randomly at Bolton OPC

So... no GT4 at GIMS.
Which makes me think my contact was correct that Goodwood would be the place or at least timing for the GT4 to be announced.
No, the 911 Speedster will be presented in Goodwood.
Nothing in 2018 concerning the new GT4.

This thread is hilarious. Its a 4 litre N/A motor. Thats it, there is no argument as my masseuse has seen it, touched it, fondled it and all but dribbled juices all over it...

Do people not believe me or something?! smile

That’s nothing....!! I still can’t work out how to use the “forum emojis” on my iPhone..!! Every time I stick one of the iPhone emojis in I get something akin to this: 3568;(£54)&£;;(.....

No more news on the 718 GT4 or Spyder, but I've been thinking about the styling.

Based on the mules we've seen, is anyone else not sold on the looks? In my eyes, the nose seems long and pointy and the rear quite large and bulbous. The "monkey's bottom" diffuser really doesn't help with that either, and topped off with Halfords-style spoiler I'm really not liking the way the car could look. I can't even think of a colour that would suit it.

Is it just me? laugh

There's going to be an awesome spec 981 GT4 for sale at one of the London OPC's next month.

Around 2500 miles Voodoo Blue, the best colour EVAH!

Anyone considering a 718 GT4 might be interested in a low mileage version of the previous generation. I don't know, maybe not everyone is a fan of the styling of the new one or something like that. I know you are on the record as not interested in GT4's after your test drive but others may be.

For what it's worth.....

I Had a long and interesting chat with a Senior chap on the Porsche stand at Geneva this week about the GT4 in particular. While he was very careful to not give too much away It was quite clear he had a pretty good handle on things and I came away very much with the impression that the GT4 won't be appearing in 2018.

Following that chat I personally now expect it might well pop up at Geneva in 2019....

I was at OPC Cayenne launch event last night and was told that due to the much talked about suspension of UK/Europe production of all petrol engined cars, they won't be seeing any new sports cars form end April until November . I would be surprised therefore to see a GT4/Spyder launch before the end of the year perhaps with deliveries beginning in early 2019.

Thats not a 9,000 rpm rev counter in the interior shot. Looks like the standard 718 one i.e. turbo

It's been discussed on Rennlist. The conclusion was it was probably identical or very close to the 981 GT4 and its 7800rpm redline, so NASP. Look at the position of the gear selection window in relation to the "1" on the dial.

Definitely a manual box on the cards too smile

Even if the new GT4 has the engine based on the 4.0 GT3 it will, unfortunately, be seriously strangled and detuned and revs be capped to say c 8250 max.

I'd be quite happy with 8250 though smile

Me too... It wasn’t that long ago that the GT3 boys were happy with 8250....

Here's a short video of a 718 Spyder mule - any thoughts on the engine configuration?
