I suppose it is feasible the NA is kept for the GT model- this applies to the 911 after all.
The 4 litre was developed for the GT3, it can't be that troublesome to detune it for the GT4 and not the Spyder.
They sell enough GT3's to justify it, the GT4 will easily sell as many again.

Arghhh....!! No..... You are entirely missing my point.... The first GT4 used a “de-tuned” version of a “non-GT” 3.8L lump..... As DuncGTS said, Porsche had more than one 3.8L motor to choose from at this point, and thus choosing to use the Carrera S 3.8—and further restricting it— made it easy to leave a large comfort zone between the 991.1 GT3 (with a “proper” GT 3.8 motor) and the GT4 (despite them both being “3.8L”). However, Porsche now only have the one 4L engine available to them: a high revving 4L designed by the GT department....!! To restrict this to the same level as the old de-tuned Carrera motor found in the current GT4, would require much more in the way of “strangulation” of the engine, and would seem a completely pointless, expensive and unnecessarily complicated task....

Anyway.... Despite quite enjoying all this discussion regarding what engine Porsche finally DO put in the new GT4 (if that is even what it will be called..!!), we are still not really any closer to resolving the puzzle.... A few soundbites from what appears to be the all new Spyder do not really answer the question: it certainly doesn’t sound like the high-revving N/A unit in the current GT3, but it also doesn’t really sound— to my ears— too much like the 718 F4T either...!! Guess we’ll just have to keep on guessing.... Porsche must be loving all this controversy....!! wink

The launch can't be far away now, surely? These look pretty final.....

Mounts for the clubsport rear wing will be quite different from the road car it seems...Goose/SwanNeck.
Seems like that car will be a good step forward..which it will need to be to compete with AMG GT, Audi R8 and McLaren 570s

Rennlist - not sure of the source from there, I can't make out the logo on the pics. The Clubsport looking pretty final was the highlight for me, and this combined with GT-style bumpers on the Spyder and GT4 may indicate they're all close to production?

Fair point. Just spotted duct tape on the front bumper too.

i think the Spyder looks great, especially with the updated front spoiler - gives the front of the 718 the edge that it needed. assuming the GT4 has the same treatment it will definitely look the part.

edit: although it would be nice if there were an option to delete the big wing.

Looks at the Clubsport pics closer.... think there may be a fair bit of photoshop in there.... would explain why it has scoops and the road car doesn't.
Also the difference in wings between the 2 clubsport shots - also - the ClubSport is clearly 981 body panels.. i'm not talking front and rear bumper.. look at the door handles... that is 981 where as the 718 door handles are integrated into the door panel.
The rocker panels around the intake/scoop area on the 718 are slightly blunged vs the ClubSport.

Not saying that the car isn't or won't be real. Just saying that those pics have definitely been doctored.

The wing in the first clubsport pic is transparent? you can see the mounts at the top of the wing.. but there is no main plane - only end plates.
The second clubsport pic is fully filled in and then has a photoshop smudge near the RHS wing mount - it also looks kinda generic cup car.

I think something is missing in this pic.

That looks like a frame. Filling in the middle you are calling silver is the track barrier behind the car.
You can see where the gooseneck mount would attach to the main plane.... if there was one there... but there isn't in this pic.
You can see the end plate on the far side and the near side.

But I can understand what you are saying with the silver and white...but as you say - have to use your imagination.
We all can perceive differently

Hmm, it does look a bit unusual. I just thought the spoiler had a tubular frame but I see what you mean about the armco.

Odd.

I hope they add side scoops and not just leave the hideous black plastic 718 parts.
It would almost put me off buying one. I love the scoops on my 981.

It’s getting close by the looks of it.

The top of the wing is silver like the stickers on the car the under side is black and looks to be a test wing to allow a greater level of adjustment when testing, this won’t be a production part.

Any notice anything about the exhaust locations?

Wow didn’t notice that. Downloaded the image and increased everything. Shadows, brightness, exposure and sure enough someone’s completely blacked out the pipes. Is that porsche releasing an image to build hype? Someone just photoshopping a hoax image together to throw people off the scent? Or is simply a turbo exhaust placement and they don’t want us to see??

I’ve been thinking of pulling the trigger on an overly priced manual GT3.2 today but I want to know what the next GT4/RS brings to the table first, wish they would hurry up and spill the beans...

I did the same thing and it does look like someone has added 'blocks' to the image to blank out the area in the splitter, but if you look at what I've done below, you will see there is still a suggestion of the wider space between where the pipes are hinted at:

That looks more like they've blocked out the central exhaust of a 981 Clubsport?

It's all very odd. I got the images off Rennsport but I'd like to know the original source.

Agreed.

And I'm glad people have appreciated my expertly added arrows. That's years of experience on show right there.
