Funny that last post?

After my chim, I bought my base cayman because I wanted it to be as near as possible to the tvr in as much that it didn't have any crap on it, no offence to anyone.
Obviously the tvr had nothing to shout about other than the engine. The 2.7 is an absolute joy to drive with the glorious manual gearbox.
The only thing I wish it had was a lovely shiny handbrake like the tvr.
Oh well.

Yeah, I get that. My 987 Cayman S manual was a great car and very basic in terms of tech.

It's just in standard mode, the 981 Boxster is a bit tame (with the PDK anyway). Very quiet, comfortable and refined. On Sport or Sport Plus with the sports exhaust turned on it's much more alive, noisier and with quicker gearshifts. Just feels better. It's nice to have a car that you can drive quiet and sensibly in, and fast and mad with at other times!

Oh yes. My 987.1 Cayman S is nearly 12 years old with 99,400 miles on the clock and I've had it from new. It's such a sweet car and always puts a smile on my face when I drive it. Long may it continue (until the engine goes pop, I suppose... eek )

We had an 981/1 ‘06 Boxster S in cobalt blue. Specced it exactly as we wanted it, picked it up from the factory and in the years we owned it toured all over Europe in it. Four years later in an outbreak of extreme stupidity we sold it. That car was part of the family and my wife was actually in tears when it left. We now drive a Boxster GTS, and whilst it is better in almost every way to that cobalt Boxster it will never be part of the family like that car was.

The moral of my little story is keep your Cayman for as long as you are able, particularly as the 718 has lost it’s soul with its nasty new engine.
