So my GT4 is in for its first service and one thing that has always bugged me since buying my car used earlier this year, is how the passenger side floor mat doesn't clip into the fixings due to the fire extinguisher. As a result, the carpet is curled up and crumpled in the corner due to not fitting.

I figured that I'd get this seen to, as either the mat wasn't the right one or the fire extinguisher was fitted incorrectly.

My dealer has come back to me and stated that Porsche do not make a compatible floor mat for cars equipped with the Clubsport Package (i.e. Fire extinguisher fitted), so I should either bin it or live with it/cut it to fit!

Can anyone confirm that this is the correct information I'm getting - sounds ludicrous! Do all you Clubsport owners have mats that don't fit?

On my recently collected GT3, I was asked if I wanted the extinguisher fitted, I said “yes”, they said, “ok, we’ll have to send the mat off to get trimmed to suit the extinguisher”. They did and it looks as it should. Think they had some local bod do the work.

Can’t believe your OPC doesn’t know this!

The service technician offered to 'cut it to fit better, try to be as neat as possible'

Doesn't sound like a properly trimmed job to me?!

So they are right in that Porsche don't supply a mat for cars with extinguishers? It's a custom job for everyone!

Mine certainly doesn’t look like one of the technicians has had a go with his Stanley knife!!

Total horse st from your dealer! Had 3 991GT3/RS cars and its never been an issue. Just needs to be fitted 5mm up on the transmission tunnel to allow for the mat beneath...

Apparently the extinguisher is fitted as per Porsche's bulletin

Are the mats the same for GT3 and GT4?

I would imagine not.

No option to mount the extinguisher 5mm higher as the chassis has pre-drilled holes for the extinguisher mount. But you can twist the mount upwards slightly which will allow the mat to be squeezed underneath the extinguisher and saves having to cut or get the mat re-shaped. Although the re-shaped mat in the above pics does look great!
