Hello

Apart from the ruinously expensive Porsche Design stuff, and the cheap-looking "Koffer24" items that other people seem to point to, does anyone have any recommendations for luggage / bags that maximise the space in the front and/or rear boots of a 718/981 Cayman?

My existing large suitcase will fit into the front, but since only one fits that's not great for my other half - and it'll fit two small ones with space left over (but that's only good for a weekend). I currently have the bright coloured Tripp hard (4 wheel) suitcases.

Thanks!

Soft is best... Suit carrier behind seats. Tons of space

I have taken two (males) 10 days luggage, two helmets, jack, torque wrenches, + other track day stuff to Germany and Belgium, and added two exhaust manifolds on the return journey with nothing carried in the passenger area.

If I had taken my wife, well maybe different hehe

Soft bags are the future. Hard cases are difficult every where, including aircraft holds. They always get a good battering because weirdly they are difficult to store......

We use Eastpak Transverz holdalls. The medium is an ideal fit, and you could fit two in the front, although we use one medium and one small which allows for another bag I have. We put a suit carrier over the engine, and soft bags in the back. Done three two week euro trips like this.

Do you really need to absolutely optimise on the space? I say that because there are always ( in my case) lots of bits and pieces that will fit in the odd nook or cranny - I'm thinking cameras, coats, women's stuff (most seem to have some) etc. The front boot takes 2 medium sized suitcases, and some stuff, the rear boot takes an airport hold bag and some stuff, and the area over the engine takes a medium suitcase and a bit of stuff - albeit at the loss of some rear visibility.

Is your OH Imelda Markos by any chance - in which case you have my sympathy - but I find the luggage space more than adequate for a fortnight's holiday (for two) abroad or long weekend booze cruise.

There is a website called car-bags.com not sure if that's any good or not?

Assuming that Koffer24 are the same as the Roadsterbags, then I have found them very useful - especially the wedge shaped case for the rear. My OH and I have done a few tours (10days or so) and planning 2 weeks in Switzerland next June without any issues. Agreed, they will not stand up to airport handling - doubly so because of the unusual shapes/sizes but that is what makes them work in the cars.

Cheers,

I have a Cayman 718 S - went touring France last summer for 3 weeks in it and the other half doesn't pack particularly light. After measuring carefully I bought 2 Samsonsite Rewind duffle bags 68cm - they are soft but have wheels and fit perfectly in the front (£109 each on the samsonsite website but I got for £81 from luggage superstore) Also bought a 55cm one (non wheeled) for her extra stuff and that fits in as well. One of the large ones also fits in the back just but I kept that for a day rucksack and other loose things. Also bought a Halfords cargo net £10 for over the engine (much cheaper than bespoke options and works fine)

We even had room a for a few bottles of wine (you can get 2 in each of the compartments with the slider lids on next to the engine)

Hope this helps

Two of these fit nicely into the frunk and are well priced to say the least. You could also get your uber geek on and get a Porsche badge added for £6. They are a very robust bag and a million miles away from some of the Louis Vuitton nonsense people spend a fortune on.
