My order is in.

Lockdown next week.

Details on http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ7YPKT0

Any thoughts/comments before I reach the point of no return?

The one item I had been grappling with in particular is the LED headlights. As most of my driving is in well lit areas I hadn't originally ticked this option as I wasn't sure I would ever see the benefit of spending £1400 and the standard bixenon lights should be sufficient.
Congrats smile I wouldn't bother with Light Design Package or Power Steering Plus. Had the former on my 981 BGTS and I couldn't tell what difference it made. As for the latter, at no point was the power steering heavy, so making it lighter seems a bit pointless IMO!

On a separate note, how many of you have had your new cars protected with gtechniq products?

If so, do you think it was money well spent or is it all a bit of a waste of time and money?

Is there anything special about gtechniq or are there other products out there that will do similar things eg swissvax which my dealer has offered as an add on option rather than me getting a detailer to apply gtechniq.

Thanks!
Had my wifes new car done on deliver by PH'er PoshTwit (he is a detailer) it was well worth the money. Car stays looking clean for longer and is easier to clean. I had the car delivered to him with all of the factory protection still on. He removed it, corrected a tiny scratch on the bumper and used gtechniq inside and out. The stuff on the wheels is fantastic, pressure washer only and the wheels look new.

Thanks for all your responses!

current thinking is -

- i'm going for the LED's
- not going to bother with gtechniq or other paint protection
- dropping power steering plus from spec
- undecided re Bose system, will see if i can pop into dealership over weekend and listen to standard system (if they have a 718 there with it).
- keeping the multifunction wheel. I have one on current car and find it very useful.
- light design pack i think i'll keep.

no doubt i'll change my mind on some of these over the weekend before lockdown!

I would always go for the Gtechniq now I have it, but I wouldn't get it done by the dealer. My Evora is going in to have it done soon. the £400 it costs is worth it.

The gtechniq wouldn't be done by the dealer but by one of their (very few) approved detailers. There are only a handful of them. Cost was about £800. The cost plus losing my car for 3 days after just taking delivery is not making it look like an attractive option!

I have my car cleaned every couple of weeks and am really not sure I can see the benefit of £800 of gtechniq protection, especially as it is not me cleaning the car!

Obviously its your choice and I used to be sceptical too.

£800 is way to much. Depending where you are in the country speak to Poshtwit, I reckon it will be about £500 to do the whole car, and get the car delivered to him. Losing the car for 3 days is well worth it. The paint on my wifes car 15 months on is perfect, like glass. Others also quoted my the same price as Poshtwit (Richard), but I had met him at a few PH events and trusted him.

You only get the benefit of the Gtechniq guarantee if you use one of their approved people. I'm not sure I'd trust someone with a brand new car who wasn't approved especially as the ramifications of getting this wrong are huge. Plus the benefit of the 9 year guarantee.

If you go on their website, https://gtechniq.com/service/, you can see the cost is in excess of £500, obviously with an approved detailer.

I'm sure Poshtwit is great but I'd probably only do this with an approved person or not at all.

Posh twist is approved by gtechniq. He also trains detailers!

I could be wrong but my guess is that if he's accredited by gtechniq then he'll be doing it at the same price as the accredited detailer near me and not c £500. That is because I assume to be accredited they will be required to abide by the prices on the gtechniq website.

What part of the country is he in? All the accredited detailers are on here... https://gtechniq.com/detailing-services/

Good call on the led lights, the 4 small led running lights look great . I thought the Bose was much better than the stock one. Powers steering plus not an expensive option so not much to save not speccing it? Light design is great ambient light from overhead i think its pretty cool

I wonder what car you have laugh you never did say what strong money your OPC was offering you to wrestle your car from your grasp.
All cars have taken a big hit this month.

i would have chosen the sport chassis... i have this on my 981 but 718 does have pasm with it now...
-2mm, no pb with speed bumpers etc... i live in central London. But it looks more racing and handle better than normal chassis.
otherwise, good luck with the waiting!

Sadly it will probably go this next year because of 'internal reasons'. I need a multi cylinder replacement but not a low slung chap I am afraid as 'er indoors has issues. We have always enjoyed the car together so.................

Sadly disappointed with Macan........................ it was going to be 'the replacement', plus, so many other offer so much more for your money........Pork has become the BMW of the 2010s with poverty spec motors.
Came very close to a C63 but meh, when i',m older.........

We are all different in what we like, and it really is your choice, but:

I wouldn't go with base seats
I think the black wheel with Agate looks too drab. Not that you have a lot of choice if you like Agate.
Go with Porsche Entry and drive, it is good. Also get the painted started switch to suit.
You don't really need the camera with park assist.
Definitely go with sports suspension. I never had any bottoming out issues and it looks good too. You won't ever use the pasm button, so it is a waste.
I'd go with pccb, but that is just me wink
Get Homelink if you have electric gates or garage door opener.
The storage net is handy and not obtrusive. You don't see it from the driver's seat
Get the steering column casing in leather. It has the deviated stitching and not a lot of money. It is subtle but definitely lifts the interior.

Note. Homelink doesn’t work on all gates with a rolling code.

You say you wont need the pasm button , but even when its specced and not pressed it is working

718 has PASM for all suspension options unlike the 981 which had a passive -20mm choice.

Saying someone doesn't need the reversing camera is wrong - it depends on your situation. I use mine all the time to park right up against my garage door. It's superb.

Leather column casing with holes for stalks looks naff to me, so each to their own. I find the plastic column matches the dial binacle nicely.

Oh, and the seats aren't "base" seats they're Sports Seats Plus. They sit lower than the folding buckets, and are easier to get in and out of, so perfect for a daily driver.
