Wasn't going to do this, really, really backed away.................

then thought sod it;

spec the two extra cylinders.....................

sorry
I spoke to Porsche and adding an extra 2 cylinders isn't an option on the new 718. Porsche do have a workaround though. They suggested having an owner of a 981 sitting in the passenger seat. Apparently their incessant and interminable whining and moaning and bhing about how the 718 just doesn't sound as good as the 981 will drown out the sound of the 718 engine. Has anyone tried this? Would be interested to know if it works.

Actually it does work. Works with a 991 owner too..............

But..

The F4T still sounds crap to the general public outside though...............................................

Give it a rest. It wasn't funny the first time.

We get you don't like the 718 so why bother coming into a 718 thread to add nothing but snidy remarks?

Cant rely on the general public, at a pub bike meet when a 718 turned up and the bloke next said that 981 sounds gorgeous better than the new one biggrin just saying

Thanks, now just have to sit and wait for another 6 weeks. I don't know how people have coped with a long wait for their cars. 2 months wait is painful enough!

I feel like a 5 year old kid in the back of the car constantly saying "are we there yet?"

v nice spec! only query I have on it is you haven't added 2 zone climate control? Did you know that without that, there is no climate control at all, just manual air con. So the 2 zone bit is a red herring. If you want climate control you need to have the 2 zone.

Phew - made me panic there! Turns out I didn't miss it out on my spec, I just missed it out on the list above (now corrected).

Glad to have a hawk looking over it to check that nothing 'obvious' is missing - not spending £70k plus for a manual blower!

Hi All - first ever post and first ever new car on way. 718 Cayman GTS!

Been reading all these forums and it was interesting reading everyones opinions and seeing the different specs.

Glad I did read them because I had no idea about some of the quirks of the spec sheet. Eg the dual zone climate control!

Would be interested to hear people’s opinion on my spec (all Alcantara removed!):
http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ26GFY9

Question - how easy / hard was it for you guys to get your slots? How long will you have to wait etc?

Not sure if I fluked it like a blind man strolling across a motor way at rush hour and not getting a scratch but I strolled in my local dealer (Porsch East London) on sat 6th Jan 18. Ordered it there and then, no previous interaction, and now I’m collecting it Mid March. Have I been really lucky or have there been a burst of cancellations for some reason? (Please no one remind me about the F4T lol)

Great options!
I would only either scrap BOSE (really bad) to upgrade to Burmeister or keep the standard sound package.
It is good sport chassis comes now WITH pasm!
Good luck for the waiting!!

Picked up my Boxster GTS yesterday. It was bloody cold with the roof off for my first drive and the heated steering wheel (and seats) were well worth the money. Not sure in a Cayman though!

No way, really. Ah what a shame to hear that about the Bose. Can you elaborate?
