out of curiosity - is a heated steering wheel worthwhile?
It's the only way to get the multi function wheel, which is why I ticked that box.

Hi All - first ever post and first ever new car on way. 718 Cayman GTS!

Been reading all these forums and it was interesting reading everyones opinions and seeing the different specs.

Glad I did read them because I had no idea about some of the quirks of the spec sheet. Eg the dual zone climate control!

Would be interested to hear people’s opinion on my spec (all Alcantara removed!):

Question - how easy / hard was it for you guys to get your slots? How long will you have to wait etc?

Not sure if I fluked it like a blind man strolling across a motor way at rush hour and not getting a scratch but I strolled in my local dealer (Porsch East London) on sat 6th Jan 18. Ordered it there and then, no previous interaction, and now I’m collecting it Mid March. Have I been really lucky or have there been a burst of cancellations for some reason? (Please no one remind me about the F4T lol)

I think porsche are prioritising the GTS in their build slots which is why the lead times are shorter than if you went for a Base model or the S.

Great spec but I love the GTS interior pack so I've got a lot of alcantara coming!

Didn’t know that - seems daft

I least spec heated seats but never felt the need for warming hands (in hardtop)

Thanks! Remind me which spec was your?
I see. It did sound like he had a couple of relatively soon slots available but I didn't think to ask how many allocations etc had gone.

To be fair, it's reading these forums and peoples feelings towards the GTS interior that made me question my own spec a little. From the off I've thought alcontara is quite nice looking but I didn't want to feel it on my skin all the time, which lead me down the leather interior path but then you can't have the GTS embossed on the head rests, which was a little bit of an shame. Agh so many decisions, so many options. Lol. I like the contrast stitching with the GTS pack too.

Here's another quirk I noticed. You can select the GT sports steering wheel option and the heated. Multifunction at the same time. Or just one or the other, or neither. Does that mean there are 4 different types of steering wheel?
Normal
Sport
Multifunction
Sport multifunction?

Yep, multifunction is available on both steering wheels

I'm not sure that is correct with the GTS.

I think the GTS only comes with the GT sport steering wheel and the only options are (i) to upgrade to heated multifunction wheel and (ii) to delete alcantara and replace with leather.

True - GTS has only GT sport wheel - but on others all combinations are available!

Mine's http://www.porsche-code.com/PJQ4BBZ1 - not a fan of alcantara and worried about long term wear, as this one's a keeper ...

Already got connect login and know the VIN number - hanging on 'til 1st March

Weapon. Nice combo between the grey and black and the red of the GTS pack. I approve lol.

I’m not quite clear what the power steering plus does...

Nice! I’d gone from not really considering GT Silver to it now being something I’d potentially have next. Any reason you stayed with the manual?

PSP just gives lighter steering at low speeds. Makes parking a tad easier which may please your OH, but also makes the car feel less of a tank round low speed roundabouts.

I believe it can also be turned off by OPC if you decide that you dont like it.

I'm old school and like doing it myself wink. Although I test drove a PDK S and thought it was amazing, I personally prefer manuals.

I'm glad you approve thumbup

I was torn between agate grey and GT silver but am really pleased with my choice. As you say the combo with the black GTS accents plus the GTS interior pack work really well.

Just need to sit and wait a bit longer until it arrives!

smile haha. Yeah, with the rest of the spec I think the darker grey is a better fit. It’s a rabbit hole though hey. You tinker with one thing and then you have to do something else to complete the package. That’s how I ended up with the carbon interior. If I’d have stayed with dark leather I’d have kept the standard silver as I like them together but nope lol. Extra expense on the spec sheet lol

Good on ya. This will be the first ever non manual I’ll have had. Can guarantee I’ll be flapping my left foot around at round abouts haha. I guess you can’t go wrong here with Porsche - they’re both as good as it gets right?
