Dealer Prices Increased For 981 CGTS - Reaction To 718 GTS?

My dealer was told by Alpine that an order placed NOW would be fulfilled by the end of the year - but I don't find even that credible. Alpine say they will produce the 1955 PEs between March and September (I expect RHD cars to be the last) and start production on Pure and Legend after that . They already have over 2500 deposits for them and even if the production rate is up to 5000/yr by then , that will fill production until March 2019. I think that represents best case scenario and a bit more slippage wouldn't surprise me.
If you think odds are that you will like the car and will wait that long I'd place a deposit now, or as soon as they start taking deposits again if that isn't possible. It's fully refundable so your only exposure is currency fluctuation and a little loss of interest. You can pull the plug in May if the car doesn't suit. That was my view last March and, apart from production delays, I'm still very comfortable with the decision I made.
What's the longest anyone has had to wait for a car after their deposit was placed? Am talking about when orders were officially open rather than the speculative LOI approach before a car is announced. If you think odds are that you will like the car and will wait that long I'd place a deposit now, or as soon as they start taking deposits again if that isn't possible. PS were you able to order a PE in March 2017? I had understood they were all sold within 5 days?

The car was open for deposits in Dec 16. I believe the French allocation went in 2 days, the rest of the LHD allocation in 5. I'm not sure when the RHD cars were open for deposits, but there were 60 or so cars available when I looked during the Geneva show in March when the car was first shown properly. They were all gone before the end of the show. Because of the demand deoposits were opened the non-PE edition.PS were you able to order a PE in March 2017? Strange that. I placed mine a few days after the announcement in December 2016 and there weren't many left. If your feedback on dates are correct it could be a 2 year wait in total!Hi everyone. New on here but have read a lot of the forum stuff. I am not sure if I have a 'uniform' spec Cayman 981s- sports chrono, pasm, ptv, pse, sports tailpipes, sports design steering wheel, pccb , buckets and manual transmission. Pcm, 20gb jukebox and Bluetooth mobile prep etc. It is basically a gts spec (in my eyes) but the buckets make it special for me. I was thinking of a gt4 next so the question I have is...do you think I can command a good value for it or is it a keeper. Still has 20 months Porsche warranty and just had a major service at 4 years old with 16k miles. It's also yellow with 20 classic Carrara alloys- purchased from an opc. It would be great for hear your opinions...tia

Yes it is a very high spec S but....... does it have dual climate lol
You should get a top end S price for it and it would offer great value compared to a higher priced GTS but the problem with that spec is that the price would not reflect all of the options ie once the price gets too far above a “nice” S people would rather have a GTS IMHO. I also fear PCCB would put a lot of buyers off in this type of car ie people won’t pay a premium for them in an S.
Other factors would also be material to command really top money for an S ie mileage, full leather, full phone prep (not just Bluetooth), dual aircon etc....
It would sell quickly if priced correctly due to the spec but it would not fetch GTS money IMHO.

The colour will be a problem for many. Perhaps OK for a GT4, but a bit in your face for an S. I know the colour Porsche buyers choose won't follow the same profile as Ford drivers, but http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-new... does show that overall yellow isn't a popular choice. (I've nothing personally against yellow cars - I've owned 3)Edited by Paul_D on Saturday 20th January 21:05
Hi thanks for the response. The yellow was not my initial choice but it looks amazing both day and night and grown fond of it - get a lot of compliments too.
It does not have dual climate control or full leather.
I was just querying if its a keeper or what would i expect to put it up for?thanks
Thanks

Optimistic pricing yes. Most are below 60k nowhttp://locator.porsche.com/ipl-customer/ipl/detail...

Friend of mine just paid over £60k for a 981 GTS, from an OPC, so the market for these is strong.
Three owners and 800 mls, suggests it's been owned by 'collectors'. But, Viper Green is a very desirable colour and actually looks better than the pics. The rest of the spec isn't particularly exceptional. I'd be wanting dual climate and pccbs at that price.

I actually love Viper Green, but the premium being asked for that and low mileage, isn't worth the lack of options on this car. I'd be expecting nearly every option ticked for the price.Three owners and 800 mls, suggests it's been owned by 'collectors'.
