I had a good experience overall. I just take delivery of a CGTS, at initial inquiry (it was for a S then), I was given their demonstrator for the afternoon. Told to enjoy and bring it back when I was ready ....

After that I changed my order from an S to a GTS with no problems (and I was told this week they still took delivery of my origin S spec). Helpful all the way when it came closer to the time, Eg in getting the Porsche Connect registered etc etc.

The car was shiny and ready in the showroom for delivery (on both occasions - the first attempt was aborted due to snow). Did the usual paper work, extra insurance options were mentioned - but not pushed (BTW anyone else get alloy and tyre insurance - still thinking about it? ...). Went through the car in as much detail as I wanted or did not want.

My only gripe is the obsequious nature (Oh! the silver seat belts do finish it off!). Don't need that - but get where they are coming from. All a bit American, faint praise and false welcoming!

to answer the OP.

No, and I have bought several. I am growing increasingly frustrated by car sales man.. with the very odd exception they are generally pretty daft to interact with, don't know nearly enough and generally show very low willingness to respond to any sort of query you might have.

And don't get me started at the service department level.. the level of ignorance there is often absolutely appalling. I experienced it again this week where the dealer was incapable of finding the LED PDLS built from factory on my LHD car and was insisting i replaced my headlights to conform to UK regulation.. when 1. they can be switched from the cabin in a minute.. and 2. most specialist/dealers would be content to adjust to flat beam.

And this is just one example.. the list is so long it's not worth bothering with.

With Porsche i think the only decent service is the special car division one at Reading.. and then maybe a few others. In London avoid all and surrounding areas except for East London that seem to be decent enough or at least have been that way with my cars in recent times.

The magic is indeed in the driving. And as long as you can manage to stay away from dealers you will be a happy man.

For me it started well as we walked in to the OPC on a Saturday afternoon.

We bought a car within 2 hours of being there and it all went well and at the collection our car was beautifully prepared and I'd say a good attention to detail overall. The ceramic coating on the bonnet needed re-doing so I was told and I could see it when it was pointed out so fair play for bringing it up and sorting it. Had a 911 GTS convertible for the best part of a week whilst it went back in which was entertaining..

The problems started when the PEC didn't arrive, then it wasn't what we were promised etc, MOT advisory eventually came through a couple of months afterwards (I should have insisted on seeing it before we drove away as the car was 'just' 3yrs old) with the cracked tyre alert - eventually sorted via Porsche and Pirelli.

I was too trusting although the OPC was quite good at 'wooing' us, so I put that down to my excitement at impulse buying a Porsche.

Overall we ended up with what we wanted plus effectively free tyres, so OK.

The sales guy was good, then forgetful, then 'ambiguous with the truth' so a sharp word with his boss and a recommendation to meet with the dealer principal and everything was sorted pretty much immediately.

I would go back there and this time with my eyes wider open and my wallet hidden - I think it was the opposite this time!!

...nice coffee though...
