After thirty years of saying I would NEVER own a Porsche...

Picked up my "high mileage" 987.2 2.9 from Ashgood today.

So far my driving experience has been mostly stuck in traffic on the M25 accelerating just to listen to the engine when the odd occasion allowed.

Was quite astonished how much difference PASM makes. Going to need to go out late one night to explore it further..

The head unit (CDR30) is rubbish. That will probably get prioritised ahead of the cruise control now, tried a bluetooth into the aux socket add on, pretty hopeless. Still dithering between Dynavin and Pioneer.

Can see why Porsche offer the "Sport" button, the standard throttle mapping is pretty "conservative". Another one for the list at some point.

Congratulations, once you've been bitten by the Porsche bug you are hooked. I picked up a 986 Boxster S in January and despite spending a lot of money on refreshing aged components I'm really enjoying it.

Enjoy it!

I’ve owned a 987 S, a C4S and now a 997.2 Turbo but I still maintain the Boxster provided the most smiles per miles. The sound of that wailing flat six a couple of inches behind your head is unbeatable.

They are good aren't they. I had my 987 Box for 8 years and it felt special every time I got in it. Prior to getting it I'd never kept a car for more than 2 years and most less than that so it really was the best car I'd ever had up until we got a 981 Cayman which is likely to be with us for as long if not longer.

Enjoy it.

Despite bing fully hooked on the NASP GT range by now, I still have fond memories of my 986S. Terrific enjoyment for the money

Driving it into London tomorrow, planning a mini photo shoot in between work.

Liked the guys at Ashgood. Very friendly and helpful.

From other posts about them I expect them to help out if I get an issue. A good place to buy your first Porsche from.

Absolutely, mine developed what at first appeared to be an issue, which turn out to be low PDK oil level. Ashgood made no quibbles and although there was no mechanical malfunction, got the car re-checked inside out to ensure no other issues. Mike, Paul and everyone else were amazing pre and post sale.

Best I could do without getting run over.

Fantastic car to drive. Even in London.
