Hi all, anyone out there as frustrated as me with the boxster 986 electronics ?. I replaced a door micro switch because the window will drop when the handle is pulled but goes back up as soon as I release the handle . Still no joy. Also I would like to have 3 button flip keys instead of the crappy standard ones. Any ideas or help would be welcome. Cheers.

Why not try asking on one of the forums like boxa.net ? probably loads of others - just the one that immediately springs to mind

I’ve been on the 986 forum but no one seems to have an answer. I’ll give it a whirl & see what response I get. Many thanks.

This is normal behaviour if the door isn't opened - pull the handle without moving the door from the closed position will cause it to drop, but it goes back up if you release it. It should stay dropped if the door is no longer in the closed position.

And you're stuck with the 'crappy' key I'm afraid. It's a car that first went on sale in the mid 90s. Enjoy it for what it is.

No, when you pull the handle and open the door, the window stays down until you close the door again. But when there is an issue with the switch, it goes back up as soon as you release the handle making it difficult to close.

I just replaced the whole lock mechanism which sorted it. It's not too hard.

Can't help on the key.

Thanks for the window / door handle issue. Will give it a go & let you know how I get on. I have the 04 boxster S with 72,400 miles on it. It sounds great, it drives great , goes round bends & corners like it’s on rails. I love the car but these niggles don’t half piss me off. 😀
