Salvage cayman

Hi all I'm new to the forum, I've just brought a late 2011 cayman 2.9 from a salvage auction i have sourced most of the parts but im now in need of a rear shock and im wondering if the older gen 1 shocks are the same. Gen 2 part number is 987.333.051.16 and i think gen 1 part number is 987.333.051.09. But I have also see people selling shocked saying they will fit 2005-2012.
