You can say the same about PDK and your GT3, and 987s look and feel old.

Please leave this thread alone - you don't like the 981 GTS, others do, so please leave us to it. Thanks.

Aw, let him have his say! I find Mr D's trenchant views entertaining - though I don't always agree with them. Even a bit of wisdom there too lol. bowbiglaugh

If the thread was "which Cayman should I buy, 987 or 981?" then his comments would be relevant. This is not that kind of thread so it's a case of him wading in with his uninvited opinion and insistence of what's right and wrong for others. Again rolleyes

what do you mean PDK and my GT3 ?? I have 340lbs/ft torque and shorter gearing than your car, you have a 85mph 2nd gear car with much lower torque.

any way you are the 981 lover on PH which is fine I am the R lover :-)

You based your choice on looks, I based mine on driving fun and interaction.

I posted as people want to go back to manual in some cars and want to hunt out a manual 981, but imo it's not all that. choosing manual does not transform it into a drivers car ! the 981 really is more suited to PDK imo.

Any manual future buyers need to test drive the cars not go on forum hype.

There is a reason 5 or 6 of the 964 track and fun driving guys have moved to the R and not bought 981's, it what it is, but don't start saying black is white, it don't wash with me :-)

It's actually refreshing to get a different view for once rather than the seemingly prevailing view on here that the 981 is the best car ever built, which it's clearly not. I, also, drive a 981 btw !

You know nothing about me as we've never met. I intend to keep it that way.

Not sure what you're on about with the black/white thing. You're rambling.

That's what makes PH so much fun. Or infuriating. biglaugh Each thread gets derailed by someone with an axe to grind or who can't miss an opportunity to state their view and tell everyone else they're wrong. What'll it be? Values, flipping, turbo v NA, EPS, suspension set-up...?

I don't think anyone thinks or says that do they? Just that the 981 is a gem for real world driving and good value for money.

I would say the same about you, I give people the facts to go on, you just say the 987 looks old.

your reviews are way to bias and based on looks, mine are very factual and help people make a choice or understand the cars differences.

I would meet you no issue for a drink at a meet maybe even buy you one, not sure why you state you hope out paths never cross.

I am really happy you have found a car you love so much, I have had 93 cars so far hunting out the perfect car, the manual 991.2 GT3 is bloody close to what I see as perfect,. 1st EPS car where I can tell what road surface you are on via the steering wheel, and fixes the 5 issues I hated with my GT4.

I also run a manual 981 btw also :-) the Spyder even having the 3.8 does not help the stupid gearing issue !!! (I wish some one would bloody buy it lol ) I also drive my mates Boxster 981 a lot , both great cars. but alas not my type of car.

I don't weigh in and give off-topic comments in threads to further my own agendas. That's the difference between us!

You like what you like and state it as fact, claiming that you're right and everyone else is wrong belittling their choices. There's no need for it, you should back off a bit and chill out. They're just cars smile

like you do on 718 threads , you hate the thing and let everyone on PCGB know about it :-) lol we are all guilty of cross posting and some times facts are facts, some times they are opinions, readers I think are clever enough to know a fact from an opinion :-) as you say they are just cars, the difference is I point out the downsides to the cars I own, you don't which is a bit of a shame.

There aren't many downsides to a 981, hence the lack of discussion about them from me wink

Gearing is long, I agree with that. Otherwise it's all good.

Hiya. As an alternative option, my GTS is on the market and considering dropping the price slightly. It’s the white one at RPM. Let me know if you’d like to find out more. V
Lovely spec and car, but white's not really my colour smile

Out of interest would you PM me what you would drop to?

Nothing wrong with my manual CGTS, and several other owners on here would also agree.
we know you like it, but it's the least fun Cayman to drive ! due to the 2 reasons I stated. long gearing with less torque and crap EPS.

it is what it is and you love them, but it's like saying black is white with you some times. A Cayman R makes a 981 feel like a Audi, I won't say VW as my Golf CS has more feel than a 981 ! great chassis ruined by gearing and eps which then just makes it a nice car but very much more suited to PDK.

Eddie, being serious for a moment, have you tried 2.7 and S models too?

I test drove both and went for the 2.7 to be able to use the power and hear the engine scream more often.

You could save yourself £20k and have more fun too?

On the other hand, that extra £20k will gain you 0.8 seconds 0-62 from base to GTS.
Eddie being even more serious for a moment, if you are prepared to tie up the extra capital the Total cost of ownership of a GTS will be cheaper than a standard or S model AND the GTS is one of those rare cars that is simply more than the sum of its parts.

S / none S cars are great but they will ultimately cost more to own than a GTS which money aside is simply a more fun car to drive so to me if you can afford it the GTS over S/none S is a no brainer easy decision.

Only 93, must try harder lol

For what its worth I would take a 981 GTS over an R or 991 GT3 as a road car any day of the week. I would take the R or GT3 over a 981 GTS for track any day of the week.

Most people on here are looking for road cars not track cars.

To put a balanced slant on things (ha) the 981 GTS is one of the best drivers road cars you can buy, at any price, simplez ;-)

Ps the best all round car you can get is a RR Vogue but thats only slightly less relevant than comparing the GTS to a track orientated car !
