So you all made me buy an S1000RR. :-)

I’d like something to keep along side it for more relaxed use. Steady rides on warm days etc. Something that isn’t a sports bike and gives a totally different ride. Cruisers, classics, trail bikes... loads of possibilities I guess. Anyone got a good answer for an ideal two bike garage?

There's hundreds of different bikes available, why don't you go and ride a few and buy what you want?

Something like a Royal Enfield or Bonneville? Or an actual classic (but bear in mind you'll need to keep on top of maintenance).

Get something pre 90's. A bit of character and it'll appreciate.

XDiavel (I like non-S version with the deep dish rear alloy)
Speed Triple
air-cooled Ducati Monster (1100 for example)

Yes, if you want modern no issues, something like a triumph scrambler maybe, or an injected Royal enfield, really fun to bob about on at 60mph.
Or go classic. I would suggest classic jap stuff, 70's to 80s? CB350? GT380? Even something like a Honda superdream! Fairly mundane, but cheap enough and hold their value. Interesting when you park em up at a bike meet, too.

Good God No - Just No.....

They were awful when they were new I had a few as get to work bikes and even then I regretted it every time - absolutely no redeeming features - bland engine sod all bhp and torque and overgeared so that maintaining 60-70 required constant cog swapping......

How about something big and lazy like a Yamaha XJR1300?
Great for chilling out on but with enough power to be amusing.

Or a Triumph Thruxton, pretty but still good to ride.

I'd go opposite end of the spectrum,
C90
XT500 or similar
2 stroke trail bike

Hmmmm.... I’m liking the idea of something very different / other end of spectrum.

I like Ducati Monsters etc, but I owned one before and tended to use it still as a sporty bike. I think I want something either relaxing or so slow there’s no point having thoughts of going fast on it.

Like the idea of something 70s / 80s, like the idea of the Royal Enfields, and maybe older trail bikes etc.... Going to be tricky finding examples to try out.

What about a CD200 smile

Moto Morini 3 1/2 or even a triumph bobber? Or try a TS185ER maybe?
