What are everyone’s thoughts on what is the best value for money Porsche GT car for sale today.

My thoughts are it’s either a 996gt3 gen 2 or the current GT4. Both look excellent value compared to others.

I originally said the same about the GT4 engine, but as a package it all works and is fantastic. I really like my current 3.4, and the 3.8 is very similar. I still think the GT4 is the best value GT car at the moment, 996 and 997 are old and imo over priced and could come with heavy maintenance bills, pull the 996 is fugly.

The new GT3 is way more than just the engine, the noise inside is louder, the EPS is amazing for EPS (ie it's now a non issue), the stones in the arches let you know it's not normal, the cage pings, the gear shift clicks you can hear the cables, the body roll is zero, the sus harder, it really is an event over driving a GT4 which feels very non GT after a GT3. After the 991.1 GT3 easy to use temperament I was quite shocked at the new GT3 extra involvement and how the cars lets you know what is going on, the EPS even allows the feel for a road surface change. None of that is the Engine which needs a whole new thread of it's own it's that amazing lol. Not many cars make me smile time and time again, the new GT3 does, not had a connection like this since my 987.2 Spyder. 2 really special cars to drive imo.

I can but if you think it's the same as the 991.1 GT3 which I found a bit take it or leave it , then you need to go and re drive it again, and do a better review :-) Had a nice long chat with Henry at the weekend about his manual GT3 review, take note imo he nails it :-p if you missed it when you drove it, you don't understand cars.

I think you just get a bit over excited having only a few miles in these cars you test/borrow, you have lost all sense of reality of real ownership to form an valid opinion on anything of late, which btw you force down peoples necks way more than I ever do.

My last line was your words thrown back at you btw.

If the missed the magic in the new GT3 then I think you should take up Golf...

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can think that. In fact imo it is crazy to consider the cgt as 'value for money' at current levels nevermind the 'best value for money GT car' now. It's gone up 2x it's value in the last 3 or so years nevermind what it was in the 09 low. It's very much a one off with nothing really to retain its legacy in the Porsche range unlike the 2 other similar Porsche cars (959/918), it'll never appeal to the 911 collectors in the way the rare 911s are as it's er.. obviously not a 911, and there were lots of them that were made.

The 6gt3 or the 7.1gt3s are the ones that would be my pick but for obvious reasons, a new GT car at list currently would be far and away the best value car if one were able to get one.

Ive got a manual car just like yours 911R and squeaks and pops are all very good, it has nothing like the involvement of my old 6RS without a doubt.

Lovely gearbox for sure, im running in the car as per the very slow ramp up so engine to one side- it a very fast, capable, big, car. good valaue at list as you say
Given the choice I'm reaching for my 964 hotrod keys every time though, even in the summer minus A/C.

So while you think its the best car ever, there are those that have some experience with Porsche that take a different view.

For that those who don't mind PDK in fun cars I think the 991.1 GT3 is going to be a super buy in the New Year. Just make sure its run with a warranty.

Size goes against the CGT for sure as does current pricing. What a sound though wins on that alone wink

Is it not the cheapest one in the model you like the best value?

Is a GT4 a GT car when it has a C2 engine?

you have to drive one to understand what a special car it is.
Good value at 700 odd K for a really good one? - difficult to say,
But an F40 - similar production nos- costs £1.2mil...

Never said it's the best car ever, I said it's a lot more involving than my GT4 was and does have a bit of magic in it .

A 6 RS would not live on the roads I drive so involvement means nothing if the car cannot take the road in the 1st place.

some experience you say ! been there done it, was an easy choice to keep the one on the right :-)
And my GT3 was a very well sorted mint example.

Every one has a "different view" hence we all buy what we like.

I still like to drive my 987.2 Spyder the most. but the new GT3 has bought back a lot of what was missing in the 991.1 car.

If you enjoy driving you don't have to own a GT product, JZM and 911 V both have nice Spyders for sale atm.
