You sit higher in the sports seats than either of the bucket seats in the Spyder...the p3 and p11s.

Heated seats in the Spyder are a must have and that is why the older folding gt2 buckets are the best as these can be heated. They were also standard fit in the car when new and were a no brainer spec when new over the newer and more expensive 918 buckets which cannot be heated but you sit slightly lower again and more vertical in these.

Similar to GT Porsche I would consider buckets ate essential on the Spyder and enhance the driving experience greatly.

Expect to pay substantially less for a Spyder without buckets. Ditto one without aircon as this will result in difficulties demisting the interior in colder weather etc. especially afflicting Porsche cabriolets.
Not sure I agree about the seat height. I sat in a 981 C GTS with buckets and you definately felt higher than the sports plus in my 981 CS. Also got a similar feeling when sat in a 987 spyder with buckets.

I'm 5'11'' and i have 918 buckets in my GT3 and 981 Spyder and need them in the very lowest position for my preferred seating position..Today i sat in a new GT2 RS and GT3 RS, both with 918s and again needed them in the lowest position..If the folding buckets sit any higher than the 918s then they won't suit me.

The buckets ate designed for the driver to sit lower than the sports or adaptive seats. You sit 'n' the chassis as opposed to 'on' it which gives much greater feel of the car in addition to the obvious benefits during rapid driving and on track.

The latest Spyder (918) buckets (as optionable on the GT4 991.2 GT3 and RS etc) are the lowest position and these have the advantage of electric height adjustment whereas the slightly higher positioned older folding buckets are height fixed albeit at a slightly higher position but still lower than the sports or adaptive seats.

Was looking at this, but no AC is a pity as you need this in my opinion as you can't have the roof down all the time as you will get burnt and then roof up you will get hot. Having a boxster to use taught me this.
Seats shame not heated but at least they are easy to get in and out off over the buckets, and suit the car better if you plan to use it more than just a toy. But if it's a toy then get the 918 seats as it looks much better, helps 're sale and makes the driving experience better.
Colour, not my first choice but I can live with it
Price, cheapest on the market right now ?
Warranty, about to run out but you can always pay the £600 ish a year to Porsche to extend it and work a deal out I guess

Think no air con is more of an issue on the 981 spyder than on the 987 spyder as the 981 is more luxurious imo than the more raw 987.
Ive had 2 987 spyders, the first had air con my current doesn't.
Use mine only when weather is nice and if it's warm I dont have roof on. Dont think many owners of 987 spyders use them during cold weather so air con is not missed. I genuinely have not had a single occasion this year when I would of pressed the ac button.

I don't think so, sports bucket seats deffinatley sit higher than sports seats. Tested this back to back, can't say for 918 buckets.

I've had all three types of seats.
The 918 buckets are lowest - I spec'd them for this reason.
The sports adaptive are next (when set to a lower position)
The folding buckets sit are higher - but nice for people less tall.
Horses for courses.

Agreed. Sports Seats Plus are also lower than the folding buckets when set in their lowest position. I would actively avoid folding buckets in a car as they don't go low enough for me to feel "right".

Always thought I wanted buckets being a track guy but they sat too high. Now the issue is you cant have 918 buckets heated, unless you do something after market. So that leaves adaptive seats............

What do you need heated for?.. Alcantara inserts... will be warm in less then 45secs....some say...especially if you fart. lol.
I don't fart in my car BTW.

I have 918 buckets on my GT3 and spyder and due to the way they wrap around you in combination with Alcantara they're always warm anyway..No need for heated buckets on a sporscar IMO as we're all pretty manly on here, or so i thought..!

I'm racing snake with the lack of body fat lol. I've been around Wales, or Scotland and I'd want heated seats in my soft top for sure as I generally have the roof when hooning even if its 8 degrees.

If the choice was buckets or adaptive heated seats I wouldn't think twice about getting buckets even in an open top car. Buckets just transform the driving experience and really make a difference when exploring the chassis's full potential!

When you go hiking in the welsh mountains do you carry a hotwater bottle with you..? Thought not.! Here's my tip if you're feeling chilly when driving topdown....just take a flask of brandy with you...I never leave home without mine..drinkdriving

I'd have to go heated seats as that's my preference, if want buckets but even in buckets I'm not being held in enough due to my size. I'd not want to modify the mounts. My race/track cars had buckets low and where I could not move an inch. Buckets for road cars seem to be for bigger people, 918 buckets are so loose on me.
