My base 981 calipers went silver after 18 months. No acid cleaner, just AG car shampoo.....
I agree, I never use any wheel cleaner. Double strength car wash shampoo, rinse and then when dry apply car wax.

Or get PCCB - no brake dust!!

Out of interest, are you washing them when hot? I did once, when they were mildly warm, with bilberry non acidic wheel cleaner. By the time they’d dried parts of the calliper started to change colour. Luckily I was able to buff them and the colour came back. That said the colour of yours look beyond this unfortunately. Good luck.

That’s a good point. I was wondering whether heat in the brakes would be an issue. I did get it washed last time after a brisk drive. Then again I wouldn’t think the finish would be stripped off.

If I get this sorted there’s nothing going near my wheels other than water.

Yeah, I’m no scientist, but it’s like when lime scale strips chrome off taps if left long enough. If youre in a hard water area, and the water dries rapidly it leaves limescale marks. I’m guessing, but overtime, this may build up and have the same affect of your brakes as it does on chrome taps. As I say, after my first episode, i worked hard to remove it, and now I’ve only washed the car when the brakes are cool and they still look new. However I’d still argue, is the finish fit for purpose, but it may be a losing battle with Porsche.

Still no final news. Had some picture taken in September. Went back in November for more to be taken while I was having the new rear air intake grilled added. Called back and arranged a phone call today. Didn’t get it do have them a call. No record of the pictures being taken so have to go back for more.

They sound about as useless as my OPC.
