Just upgraded my standard 987.2 CS brake ducts with 997 GT3 ducts. Both ducts, VAT & delivery came to a grand total of £12.

I'm probably never going to feel the difference, but at that price I felt I had to do it...

Top is standard, bottom is 997 GT3 spec

Managed to fit them by turning the wheels for better access.

Has anyone done a cheaper upgrade with Porsche parts??

That is a bargain. Is that todays retail prices? Or discounted?

There is a great upgrade you can do that you can transfer to any car your drive.

Once you do the upgrade, every car you drive will be more involving, handle better and you will be smoother and safer.

If you want a low cost upgrade you can't get any better than free. If you remove the covers under the front bonnet you'll see the caps of the strut tops. Remove these and Dremel or notch out a further 5mm. Then you will be able dial in around 0.5 or even up to 1 degree additional negative camber.

I’d love to do this and ‘upgrade’ my driving skills, however it’s somewhat more expensive than a duct or two. :-)

What if you're already a brilliant driver like all of us on here?

Surely this weakens the top mount area where there have been some spectacular failures.

I always thought that drilling or cutting holes in a 964's airbox was the greatest free Porsche upgrade - not really for extra power, but at least for improving the engine sound. Wonder if it works for Boxsters too?

Possibly on cars with cast/forged aluminium alloy turret tops, but unlikely on good old fashioned double skinned steel on the older cars.
I've had this done on both my 986 since 2012 with no ill effects.
