99? 9 would be too many, over how many miles is that?
Why would you want so many ?
I think at peak, I had 7 examples all at the same time...Why would you want so many ?

Fascinating hobby. Was there some kind of commercial reason for this, or were you just trying to burn through cash “Brewster's Millions” style ?
It’s a habit I got from my model cars collection, I always had multiple colours of the same model and somehow transferred this habit into real cars...Fizzbomb said:

That’s some bank account you have there, I take my hat off! When I think what I could get for the price of 7 Caymans... still if you have to buy one in every colour..

Yes, rough estimate, the whole saga cost me £305K, out of which £50K was on maintenance, then around £220K on depreciation. Lastly, I have run out of steam now and lost out on what would have been my 100th example to a fellow PHer...LolWhen I think what I could get for the price of 7 Caymans... still if you have to buy one in every colour..

I must excuse my comments by noting that I know nothing about you so what I mention is based entirely on surmise so could come across a little judgemental. To have seven of the same cars all at once!! Perhaps there may be a little OCD going on? If your bank account can take it then my hat goes off to you but surely having 7 Caymans (of any model) at one time is simply ludicrous, in every sense. There must be something more to it than perhaps we are lead to believe. It reminds me of the scene in Arthur, the movie with Dudley Moore, when he is in Bergdorf Goodmans.... Arthur: "I'll take three dozen of these shirts. Assorted colors.
I hate my father.
Hobson: "Then purchase four dozen".
Arthur: "Four dozen.
And I want......14 of these sweaters, all green."
Shopworker: "All green?"
Arthur: "I don't wear sweaters."
It is, of course, no-one's business other than yours how you spend your 'hard-earned' so please excuse my bluntness. It's just that I have never heard of anyone doing such a thing with a single model of car, especially as it is such an expensive car (well, to me it is!). I have a friend who collects Italian sports cars and bikes, another who has a truly massive collection of (mostly) BMW's (he has three mint condition M1's!) but your situation is/was extraordinary.

Before the 981, I did have 6 Porsche Cayman R cars at the same time, but I like seeing them all parked next to each other in variety of colours and spec...Arthur: "I'll take three dozen of these shirts. Assorted colors.

I can’t help but wonder if a trip to the dealership would be able to deliver a similar experience for a whole lot less cost ?Fascinating story either way- should really be included in ‘The Porsche Post’ !

Maybe you are right, but to own and see so many similar cars in all varieties is simply amazing, I used to move them around and see what colour combinations looked best, I do have photographs of most of them.Fascinating story either way- should really be included in ‘The Porsche Post’ !
