I got hit by a stone thrown up on the M11 from the opposite carriageway, so a new screen will be needed
Is repairing it not an option, or has it cracked?
Are you sure that a repair wouldn’t invalidate the whole warranty and damage the resale because it’s done using non-OPC resin hehehehe
As long as you drink your tea from a Porsche mug afterwards it should be fine.
Dont forget to wash the mug afterwards with Porsche washing up liquid at 24 degs ambient temp, water temp needs to be 20, otherwise your fked, bye bye warranty.

Yet, if you're wearing Porsche undies and Porsche socks it's fine.

Hello Glassman,

Sorry to go competely off topic, but Autoglass recently broke and chewed up the vin number display on the windscreen when fitting a new screen. It's creased and can't be read correctly.

Whats the best course of action with this? Order a new vin display from Porsche first??

Cheers and apologies again to others for going OT!

Yes, it needs to come from Porsche but it can take up to 12 weeks!

Depending on the MY you might have a spare... 'somewhere'.

wink

Well this goes from bad to worse!

I’ve not driven my car for three weeks and have no idea when I’ll drive it again!

I can have a non-OEM screen fitted, but at the cost of invalidating my warranty, or I can wait.....and wait.....and wait..... to eventually get an OEM one, maybe some time in the New Year, like Easter!

Porsche customer services acknowledge that i’m between a rock and a hard place, through no fault of mine.

My insurer has been very supportive and sympathetic, happily agreeing to stump up the extra cash for the OEM screen.

They are very clear that Porsche should provide me with an equivalent replacement car, pending resolution of the supply problem of their P-embossed screens.

I have requested that they provide me with a (Porsche) replacement car in the meantime, given that they are unable to provide me with a replacement windscreen for the car they make, that satisfies their warranty conditions.

That is beyond their powers apparently.

They referred me back to my OPC, who had referred me to them!!

And the OPC didn’t get back to me this afternoon, leaving me Porscheless for another weekend.

Pretty crap all round.

I’m genuinely shocked by this experience, it’s extraordinary, a real eye-opener.

The Porsche experience, eh?

If only you knew of an experienced Porsche installer who can get you an OEM windscreen within 48 hours.

Glassman is on the case!

Meanwhile, Porsche are organising a premium replacement vehicle, which I would guess would be a diesel three series or C.-class.

Update.

The screen will be fitted by Autoglass this weekend, so I’m looking forward to a lovely drive again soon.

Glassman was a real help and I will go through him next time.

Thanks for your help.
