PSE is really for children. If you want the noise of the exhaust to drown the noise of the engine, get it. But 981s sound fine without.

IMO of course.

How about... a child with a droning, farty sounding, car?

PSE divides owners as much as 718 vs. 981.

I'm firmly in the don't like it camp.

I love my manual 981 CGTS with PSE. I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks of my choice.

It sounds absolutely superb when giving it the beans on a great drive, but surely needs to be turned off everywhere else?

For me, it really adds to my enjoyment of this amazing, delightful car, I couldn’t imagine life without it.

Whatever floats your boat!

So true.. the only time i ever have anyone in my backseats is when i'm driving 3 mates to the local shop, which is once every 2 months. And as for transporting stuff? Can't get st in a saloon.. the roof is bloody in the way for anything tall. I'd rather just get a 2 seater and a cheap van.
Years ago I had two trips to IKEA (Other furniture stores are available) in my MR2. First trip I had to un-box things and still couldn't select reverse gear, I packed stuff so tight. The second trip was for the uprights of a shelving unit. Roof down, passenger seat reclined and uprights hooked over the head restraint - Sorted.

Did the same thing a few months later, with a fiends furniture and it started to rain halfway through the journey smile

Sorry what was the original post. Oh yes! Which sounds better 2.7 or 3.4? How about going one better and getting a GT4 or Spyder with the 3.8? smile

Why stop there? Why not get a 4.0 GT3? Or maybe he’s set himself a budget ....

Don't forget chaps that the Box is a bit noisier than the Cayman due to the soft top so motorway cruising will always be a bit noisier in the soft top - even with the roof up obviously.

If I get chance to drop the roof I always have PSE on. When I used to enjoy country drives the sound is great when you're on it. Especially with big bushes either side that bounce the noise back at you.

Thats what you might expect but according to figures I've seen the Box is a tad quieter - 1db (which you'd not notice). May be because more of the engine and the back wheels are outside the cabin.

Likewise! Roof down, giving it beans it sounds epic. Immature? Perhaps - but as I'm in my 50s I see that as a good thing!

Love driving mine roof down and PSE on too and when I use sports chrono , it always makes me laugh out loud with the intensity of the pops and crackles it makes!

Does PSE come with Dukes of Hazzard air horns too?

I think it should.

Or perhaps a health warning that it causes symptoms indistinguishable from the early stages of the onset of dementia.

I got a Boxster GTS.. best choice ever getting a soft top over a hard top. With the soft top on it feels like a normal car.. but as soon as i take that roof down.. it transforms the car.

Plus i'm 27 so i'm allowed to be immature biggrin

Not very long to enjoy it then?...

Clarkson: “There is a rule we devised on Top Gear. Once you are past the age of 27, you can drive alfresco only when it is safe to drive naked. In other words, when no one is looking. Because if people are looking, they will laugh at you.”

I've had a 2.7 for 9 months now and done nearly 15k miles in it - coming from a m140i I do miss the overtaking power sometimes, but for UK road driving you can keep your foot down a lot longer than higher powered cars smile
Interesting comment, I sold my 135i and been hunting for a DCT M2, but now looking at PDK 981.

I like my tech etc and would want proper flappy paddles etc. Day to day 981 Vs M2?
