Sports Seats vs Sports Seat Plus
Discussion
So I've just ordered my new 718 Cayman today with
Black Leather Package / Partial Leather Seats (option code AS) at £1052 and heated seats (option code 342) at £294 = £1346
I'm now thinking of changing the order to
Black Leather Seats (option code AJ) and Sports Seats Plus (option code P04) at £1343
The cost is virtually the same. I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are between the two.

Sounds like a good choice. I ordered a Cayman S earlier this year and with hindsight could easily have put in more leather, What stopped me was having ticked so many boxes already, the price was looking truly ridiculous. Of course it all depends on your budget and whether the option is useful / desirable to you.
I'm really glad I picked Sports Plus seats though because they are just slightly more softer to sit on and as a result are pretty comfortable. They're cushioned a bit more and the upgrade cost is really worth it and so I'd definitely recommend them.
The standard seats are perfectly fine but unless you want to spend a huge amount of money on the other seat upgrades, the Sports Plus are really worth it.
If you get the chance, obviously go to your OPC and sit in a car with them.

When I bought my (used) 981 Cayman CS I tested/sat in cars with both seats. One of my must have options I wanted was the sports plus. Not only more comfortable, but provide much more support for shoulders and thighs. You are buying a sports car after all, so why go for what used to be called the comfort seat!
When ordering my first Boxster I had the same dilemma - and after jumping from car to car in the showroom I decided on the Plus seats - a good bit more comfortable to me with the extra support in the bolsters but particularly across my shoulders, my current BGTS has the 18 way seats which are even better with the bolster and lumbar adjustment, but I might save the money next time as the standard Sports Seats Plus were absolutely fine for me.
The standard Porsche seats are awful and a poverty spec Mondeo has a more sporty offering.
Unfortunately my 981 has them and I fall out of them at every corner. The Sport Seats Plus which I’ve had in other Porsche’s however are incredible and really are a must have.
I wouldn’t even bother getting the electrical version, manual adjustment is fine.

At 6' 1" SSP cramped my shoulders.
The car I bought had 14 way seats which are great for a taller driver with thigh extension, base tilt, lumber adjustment, and electric column - nice if you like the wheel low down as it lifts away on entry/exit.
If this one hadn't appeared I'd have gone for standard seats.

I’d go with the sports plus. The standard seats are probably the worst car seats I’ve ever experienced. But it’s a lot to do with height and build. At 6’1” and relatively broad, I found I was basically leaning against the side bolsters rather than the back rest. I don’t find the shoulder bolsters ideal on the sports plus ones as I’m a bit too wide but overall better for comfort than the base seats. That said, the manual seats don’t offer much in the way of adjustability compared to fully electrics. Also found sports plus are a bit softer in general.

Thanks for everyone input
I think I'll change to Sports Seats Plus
I ordered the car yesterday for March delivery.
Does anyone know how long I've got before I need to confirm the spec.
Crucial that you actually try these seats, it’s a very personal thing, some love them, others find the side bolsters too tight and very uncomfortable! An expensive mistake to get wrong! Think about the adaptive 18 way version, the one option I much regret not choosing when we specced up our BGTS four years ago.I think I'll change to Sports Seats Plus

Sports Seats Plus are some of the best car seats out there.
However, I can imagine that if you have wide shoulders or waist they won't be comfortable, as you would sit on them rather than in them. You need to try both - on a drive is obviously ideal, but I think you could tell a lot from sitting stationary in the showroom.

Sitting in them is fine and thought they were great, but after a 2 hr drive found them uncomfortable whereas the standard seats are just fine. However, I can imagine that if you have wide shoulders or waist they won't be comfortable, as you would sit on them rather than in them.
