I think the faces where the wheel bolts sit are supposed to remain unpainted, otherwise there's a risk of the bolts not gripping properly and they loosen over time.

Both my sets of OEM GT4 wheels were done this way from the factory.
Its not paint its powder coat. I have used other wheels like this and never had a problem.

I had a little drive round today. Tyres feel good. Car drives absolutely fine. Definitely rides over bumps very well. I think the steering feels lighter but I can't be sure.

Without being too squeally and Mumsnet about it..... it's a very bad idea to have powdercoating on the wheel nut seats and also on the mating faces where the wheels contact the hubs. The good wheel refurbers go to extra lengths to mask these off.
As per Chris above, I've also had wheels come loose precisely for this reason. Less likely to be an issue on a non-tracked car, but you're also less likely to check the torque of your wheel nuts regularly, so be careful !
Mating faces are not powder coated.

Is the gearbox sorted ?
It is

No more leaks

Was driving absolutely fine with the leak so now the leak is fixed it is basically faultless mechanically speaking. There a couple of smaller niggles like the rattle behind the dash and one of the exhaust valves stuck. You cant hear the rattle with the roof down. The exhaust sounds good enough in sport mode so I'd guess the valve is stuck in open position.

I had a little run out with some other Porsche lads on Saturday. Car was pressed hard and drove well. Absolutely no problems. I think we were out for 5 or 6 hours.

The new smaller wheels and tyres felt good. I definitely like the new Continental Premium 6 tyres I chose. Balance felt good and car felt grippy. Some of the roads were a bit bumpy so the standard suspension works best in those conditions. Soaks up bumps really easily - squidgy tyre walls maybe help here too. I'd say it is my quickest car especially on rougher roads and so easy to drive fast. The traction control light only flickered a couple of times when the car got a bit airborne over some bigger bumps. I just leave the car in sport mode and let it choose gears for me.

It really is a good car and an impressive package. Can be very civilised when you just want to pootle around and then a bit of an animal when you need it to be.

Yes I'd prefer some steering feel but its hard to dismiss the car just because of this.

So my new stick on plates arrived.  Therefore I went down to the body shop to deliver them.  The car is looking a lot more straight than it was before.  Everything is off the car, bumpers, lights, side skirts and on the passenger side the window seal and the door mirror are also off.  All damage or dings or dents or imperfections have been sorted.  The main impact has been pulled out and smoothed off.   There was some damage to the door, which is alloy, which has all been fixed.  There were even some small ripples or indentations in the front passenger wing he has sorted. The guy told me that the new side skirt fits perfectly straight where it meets the car where he has pulled it out.  So I'm feeling pretty good about it all.  It needs a bit more prep work I think and then obviously painting.  I did tell the guy he doesn't need to rush.  I'm happier knowing he can take his time and work on it when he has some time rather than trying to rush to meet some deadline.  Maybe then next time I go it will be done.  I hope so.
