Hi All,

Any further news/gossip on whether the second batch will materialise and when this is likely to become known?

Had heard that OPC think it’s going to happen but no further confirmation on allocations from Porsche GB. Expect ‘small batch’ at best given delays in engineering/testing the filter etc. Had heard June for deliveries and also as late as Sept onwards. If June deliveries turns out to be true, then I would have thought that we would know one way or ‘tother by March ?

Still appears to a bit of a mystery.

J.

If it does happen Porsche will have to develop a UK only spec model ie with a PPF which will sap power to the tune of of 20-30 bhp and rob the engine of some of the glorius sound. The addition of the filters will also add 15-20 Kgms to the rear of the car which will probably require some additional suspension tuning. I'm sure the factory are able to add the additional power that will be lost, though the engine would be up to about 138BHP per litre which is a heck of a lot for a road car. It all seems quite a lot to do for what would be a very limited run of cars. Please forgive my ramblings.

It means developing an RS engine with a GPF for the whole EU not just the UK.The one caveat is the UK will be the only RHD market where a GPF is required.
If in the unlikely event that a no deal Brexit transpires after March 29 then Porsche GB might take the decision not to bother with a second batch.
I fear that the restricting effect of the GPF on the already optimally tuned RS is proving rather more problematic than first envisaged.
Great point from another poster that Porsche aren't infallible in overcoming engineering solutions as recent events have proven.
I still believe that a small second batch will appear in the UK later in the year, albeit neutered which no longer appeals to me personally.
A first batch RS will remain a wise buy IMO so it looks like you made a smart move Rob.

If GT4 is N/A with a largely similar engine as well as Speedster and hopefully 992 GT cars to be made with the same engine there’s plenty of reason to find an engineering solution. I suspect the question is if it can be done in time for these cars to be produced. At some stage presumably making 992 and run out 991 becomes too much of a ball ache!

The GT4 is a new car though, they haven't got to match a previous run's BHP/torque with reduced emissions. That's the challenge I suspect - can Porsche produce a car identical other than the addition of GPF, or do they accept that the same car will have two different power/performance specs depending on when it was built? If I was Porsche I wouldn't want the latter situation.

Given that the car was still on the configurator last time I checked, it may that the only hold up is the testing process. There was a quote from elsewhere that the GPF wasn't giving the required results when it was first tested (for both GT4 and GT3-RS, and probably the Speedster too) and so some re-engineering was required. This then puts the cars back further and they have to get in the testing queue again.

If it wasn't for the Speedster needing the same (or a very similar) engine, I suspect the GT3-RS second batch would have long been confirmed as cancelled. It may still be, it's a real guessing game!

You’re right about a guessing game. I heard that the reason RS pricing has dissappeared from the uk configurator isn’t a ‘techie issue’ with their website but a planned price increase in the second batch which could be considered as another piece of evidence that a second batch is imminent.

Who knows what the reality is, but I bet brexit maybe playing an influencing factor in Porsche AG’s decision making, plus any performance differential.

Where have you got this info from! ,even in the mid 70,s porsche were cheating emissions by blowing fresh air into the exhaust systems.

Porsche are still supplying gt3rs and gt2 to the rest of the world including cal which is normally the state that dictates the emmisions etc.
I have been looking at two new gt2 thats just been delivered for 300k,but i am going to wait for my new rs in mid to late summersmile

Isn't the GPF in the engine bay which would be the same for either LHD and RHD?

Exactly - it's in the headers/cats. LHD/RHD makes no difference.

Prior to Sept 2016, did Porsche supply cars with different emissions specs worldwide or did they choose the harshest limit and provide that globally? From a manufacturing point of view it's obviously easier to have only one spec...

Look forward to more 991.2 GT3 RS coming Q2 ‘19, great cars!... good luck securing an allocation... I enjoyed mine last summer but the WP option is ‘must have’ imv.. and not Lizard, too common now it’s a 992 option

This is no.2 spec.. enjoy!

Not sure it's anything to do with batches of cars as the pricing is missing from Cayennes and Panameras too. More likely, anything that has still to pass emissions tests but is still planned for the UK market. I'm pretty sure they will put the price up by at least 10% if/when another batch comes to the UK.

I’m guessing WP is a must have now to counter balance the extra weight of the GOF and loss of BHP?

Exactly! You pay more to even out the extra weight and get a slower car to boot which sounds quieter! 🤔

Same reason 991.2 GT3 drivers say cars without PCCB's, Led lights and carbon are a ste spec......

I had to go WP without the magnesium wheels as they weren't specable.
