6 Cylinder 718 GTS ?
Discussion
I’d be astonished if they bring out a none GT NA 6 cylinder 718. Having said that I was surprised they are likely keeping the 718 badge on the new GT4/Spyder.
If they do its yet another nail in the coffin of the F4T 718’s ........but it means I may be in the market for a new boxster again ;-)

What nonsense. But however you look at it if they do bring one out it’ll be priced to take full advantage of the gullible fools who believe all the internet myths written about on here lol.Schmed said:

If you like the turbo 4 pot then that’s fine by me, but to claim that my views are nonsense is none sense in itself ie there is every possibility that in fitting a 6 cylinder to a 718 the 4 pots will be even less desirable, in fact I would say that that is the most likely scenario if it happens.

Without restarting the four - six war again, let’s just say with the re introduction of a non hard core 6 cylinder 718 there should be a model to suit everyone’s taste!
Yes agreed both above and below in the model hierarchy, so surely for that reason it would be a disaster for Porsche? Now more than even I think a 6 cyl non GT 718 would take sales from the 911.
What’s a 992 carrera base price going to be? £80k? Is there enough room there, price wise?
This stinks of cannibal marketing to me, very short term view.

People pay plenty for 911s and as the only non-GT NASP Porsche sports car it will attract a certain type of buyer not otherwise catered for.
I reckon they could sell a lot of them.
To sell a lot of them it would have to outperform the 718GTS (and therefore have 400bhp plus) to satisfy those needing bar bragging rights, and not be as compromised as a GT4 for those wanting a daily. Meet those criteria and it would be too much of a threat to the 911, so I can't see Porsche letting that happen. So I'm bound to think it will be a limited edition model if it happens at all. A pity.I reckon they could sell a lot of them.

See last paragraph - I wonder if this WLTP test will have any impact on turbo v naturally aspirated engines. Perhaps one last hurrah for NA before they are confined to the history books?

I'm not sure so it would need to outperform the 718GTS to sell. They could promote it based on the NA-ness, not outright performance.bcr5784 said:

I don’t see 400bhp - the performance will be hamstrung as is usual with Porsche to keep performance no faster than a base 992.

The info given to my OPC by Porsche (unofficially) is 718 Six will happen and it will be a fairly limited edition.

Might be more attractive than a Spyder for some if it has an electric roof.I don’t see 400bhp - the performance will be hamstrung as is usual with Porsche to keep performance no faster than a base 992.
