I had my first GT car with no buying history but they saw i was a proper car nut through my Porsche knowledge. If you're a genuine enthusiast then you have a chance of getting one. Relationship is still strong. If you're a one car wonder with a crappy attitude, they probably won't be interested.
What makes me laugh is when people post guff on here slagging off dealers because of their response. They have a bad attitude so you can only imagine that they were as subtle as a brick then asking for one.
i appreciate that nice people are still turned down but a more positive approach car reap rewards.

AV185. so I WAS right ages ago that the GT4 was to make a Goodwood appearance!
Please believe me & do not insult my intelligence when i say these things in regards to GT cars..
To get an allocation now, what with every tom, dick & Harry wanting to jump on the band wagon, in my honest, transplant opinion having bought 8 P car over the last year, you have to BUY cars, 1 or 2 new cars is a minimum, be loyal, and if you get the chance of a Halo car, make dam sure that you do not flip it! having being in the roller coaster world of buying GT car i personally know of at least 3 People that would get ANY GT Car they wanted but then greed took over, they flipped, and were/are blacklisted, Loyalty to the brand is the biggest part, i would love to buy and own a Mclaren 675lt & 720S but P sell some awesome models which keep my passion for the brand, i also know of a few guys that couldnt get the P halo cars so went to Mclaren and got burnt, now have come back to P!

I have been told by my OPC ( Leeds ) they can put my intention to buy a GT4 on file but can't take a deposit until they are officially announced. I have had 6 Porsche's over the last 15 years, although they were all purchased from a Local independent Porsche specialist.
The OPC did take my relationship with the brand into account, although they told me i would need to build up a buying relationship with them to stand a chance of an allocation.
Since Nov 17 we have had a brand new 991.2 4S Targa, A Macan coming in March 19, and within the family a Cayman T and another Macan also coming in March / April, so we shall see if they stand by their word and allocate me a GT4...

That's a fair few new cars to buy in a year, nice. What made to buy that many in a year, was it what the dealership said, buy to get a GT car?The OPC did take my relationship with the brand into account, although they told me i would need to build up a buying relationship with them to stand a chance of an allocation.

Around 800 718 GT4s are expected for the UK but if anything it will be tougher and more expensive to secure an allocation this time for those with little Porsche buying history.
Margins have been squeezed at most OPCs so even those with buying history will be expected to be shafted price wise on any part exchange(s) and will also be expected to take a few 'unwanted' used cars at high prices from their stock as well as ordering some vanilla cars as well in order to secure a guaranteed build slot even for a GT4.
The good times appear to have gone and add in the anticipated 10% post Brexit charge which Porsche will levy and these cars could be seen by many as getting too expensive despite their capabilities.
Some of the rubbish people trot out on here is ridiculous and self serving. Most dealers, including senior staff at Reading, do not know numbers and allocations yet so it is still worth expressing interest. The worst they can say is no but you might get lucky and get a call. I doubt you will be asked to buy multiple new and used cars to get one and if you do, you can just say no thanks.Margins have been squeezed at most OPCs so even those with buying history will be expected to be shafted price wise on any part exchange(s) and will also be expected to take a few 'unwanted' used cars at high prices from their stock as well as ordering some vanilla cars as well in order to secure a guaranteed build slot even for a GT4.

I have found that if you are a genuine buyer and show interest, they are happy to talk to you but you need to be realistic about your chances.
The part which gets me excited is the chance of the new 4.0L 718 gt4 being available in PDK as well as manual. If that is the case I will ask if I’m able to order one.

And GT4RS claims there will be lower numbers even still making it harder still for first time GT4 buyers to secure an allocation!
You couldn't make it up.

A I said said May and didn’t say it was factual!
You on the other hand said expected, so clearly you have inside knowledge.
In regards to the ability of being able to buy a new gt4 for list how do you know the demand may won’t be lower now the the overs market is falling on a daily basis, don’t kid yourself many bought gt product to make a profit and if the profits aren’t there those buyers aren’t there!

It is largely irrelevant that the frothy market has come off the boil. Although as we have just seen on the GT3 thread the best cars will always sell quickly at the best prices despite what the naysayers claim.
Yes a certain percentage of GT cars have and always will end up in the hands of flippers but this is a relatively small number in the grand scheme of things. Even with a probable 10 per cent price increase there will still be a strong demand for these cars from those of us who buy them to use and drive as intended.

in about 2011my E92 M3 was stolen. With a little research the utterly non-existent security put me off BMW and I have had 3 Porsches since. A Cayman R, a 997 GT3 and a GT4. Its safe to say that I will not be going back to BMW. (Every cloud has a silver lining.)Please believe me & do not insult my intelligence when i say these things in regards to GT cars..

The frustrating thing is I have wanted a new GT3 which I can't buy and my local dealer will not tell reassure me about the new GT4. So I have been looking at the 570.
Thank you for the wake up call. I will extend the warranty on my GT4 for 2 years not 1 as I had intended on its imminent 3rd birthday. Its not such a chore running it!

It will probably be approx. £30,000 to trade in and go to a next GT4 which will cause existing owners to look closely at the benefits of change. We will have to see what the new one offers.
