The 981 Spyder is a keeper for me. 3 1/2 years, 3 Euro tours, 22k miles, Spa, Nurburgring, Goodwood, etc......it’s been a great adventure.... can’t really think of a better car for me.
I’m a roof off guy whenever possible, so if it’s not raining I’m in the Spyder (or my 987 BS gen 2).
But In 30 years of driving I’ve never had a hard top sports car.... hence the GT4.

Not sure exactly sure how I will use it, but probably whenever the weather is a bit miserable, and of course the odd track day.

It could be a stepping stone to a GT3, or maybe it will be a keeper too.... and I can stop thinking about buying the next car.

Let’s see..... :-)
YEP, likewise. Have "finally" decided to decline my slot for the 718 Spy.
My OPC won't struggle to find someone to take my place, though it won't help my relationship towards any possibility of a 992 GT3...
Sure the 918's a lovely car. But I can't ignore my 981 has the edge on looks, (particularly in Agate). It sounds better, and will almost certainly ride B roads better where I live better. The £20K cost to make a sideways move (IMO) seems pointless.
I've had numerous Porsches over many years, but this one look's like my first genuine keeper.
The way Porsche are going, to meet new regs, I have a feeling the 991.2 GT3 may end up being another...

Gentian looks pretty good though.
In nicely lit, post processed media images, sure!

In typically dull British weather, will look like any other dark blue, I would think. Rather dreary. All subjective of course - apart from the fact that the images you posted are definitely best-case scenario and not representative of how the colour will look normally!
Two images from Porsche Approved, both Gentian

It can be quite dull in some light conditions

It's a very 'inky' colour. Not sure I like it. say a standard cayman at Porsche Guildford this week in it and wasn't too keen.

Just as well we are not all the same, I think it will look great and its my choice, all those who think they should keep the 981 GT4 as its better in every way, I suggest you read the EVO road test and think again, roll on November smile

Not my choice but Gentian is quite a good colour imo and yellow stitching could be quite a good call to lift the interior.

That's me knackered then......
Not only a Gentian Blue GT4 ordered, but Guards Red Spyder sitting in the garage too eek
Are you keeping both ? if so what are your thoughts on usage when the GT4 and when the Spyder ?
Are you looking at the GT4 for track days ?

I think you will like it, my opinion from owning a 991.1 GT3 and having just read the EVO road test is that it will come alive at a sensible speed, I found the GT3 came alive at licence loosing speeds and unless you are going to do a lot of track days then for 2/3 the price as a road car that you do the odd track day then you will get more than 2/3 the car.
I am really looking forward to mine, would I turn down a 992 GT3 well we will have to wait and see if I'm offered one, but I have specced the GT4 as a keeper.

My timing similar (Spyder).

Spec not locked yet but imminent. Hoping to see car in November.

Starting to plan a few trips ...

Was told I had to the end of the month to spec, so have sent over my final revision.

In the end I have gone a bit crazy with spec: Miami blue, black wheels, PCCBs and Clubsport. In a desperate bid to keep it under the psychological £100k barrier is no climate (what's wrong with air con, after all) and no Chrono on the basis of that it does absolutely nothing.

Am I being silly? It would work out as another grand for things I don't use.

Depends how long you are keeping the car.

I have no chrono on the GT4 and 'manuel' aircon on the GT4 and Spyder which works fine contrary to what others say.

But there's no doubting most buyers used want chrono and climate so for £1k it may be worth speccing and possibly forgoing other items of spec for in the process.

Thanks for input. Would anyone jump into the car and even be aware it 'only' has air con?

Chrono is the one I am worried about, but it just seems pointless when it is merely a lap timer. If it changed throttle maps, or had wet mode etc. like on the 911, then I'd be all for it.

I would go climate and no chrono if you were to drop one of these. Bear in mind the GT4 is quite a 'hot ' car too.

Quite a few don't like the dash wart anyway.

Yes, you can see the button blanks by the blower/temperature display on a non-climate car.

I'd get climate and not bother about Chrono.

Not sure if you need Chrono to make the TrackPrecision app work in the 718 as you did in 981, but given latest version of the app is a bit st you wouldn't be missing out on much. Don't think the G meter is active either. I don't think anyone will miss the clock.
