Hi,
Anybody had any experience of PPF on any of their vehicles from either Topaz London or N.V.N...
Appreciate any feedback available...
They are popular thanks to Instagram.Anybody had any experience of PPF on any of their vehicles from either Topaz London or N.V.N...

One of my cars had PPF done by Topaz and it was shocking. Yet they are the 'biggest'.
I would personally take a recommendation from a detailer; they are after all the fussiest people alive.

I'm currently in talks with Janis at Max-Protect about doing my RS and find him extremely helpful and knowledgeable..Trouble is he's about 150 miles from my OPC which i'm weighing up the costs there and back..If i was closer i wouldn't consider anyone else as his attention to detail is second to none especially when it comes to wrapping around all the edges, which most others don't do..Also very realistically priced IMO.Anybody had any experience of PPF on any of their vehicles from either Topaz London or N.V.N...

Portsmouth...
Pleasure only, semi retired so probably 4 - 5,000 miles per annum...
Probably quite a while unless I suddenly get an allocation on something I just couldn’t refuse...
If it were me I'd get the dealership to do minimal prep and get it ceramic coated - I can recommend someone fairly close to Portsmouth who I've used.Pleasure only, semi retired so probably 4 - 5,000 miles per annum...

All seems a bit quiet about UK deliveries, anyone aware of what Spyders have been or are about to be delivered
Only know of my one being delivered which was 4 weeks ago. Already done 500 miles and a track day... My OPC had 2 Spyder allocations for this year and the other Spyder is still a month away apparently - I guess I just got lucky as I've had plenty of sunny days. Whatever your wait, it'll be well worth it....

So what is everyone’s opinion on Sports Buckets Vs Full 918 Buckets in a Spyder?
I've had both and definitely prefer the Sports Buckets.Edited by Zingari on Wednesday 9th October 23:00

Does anybody know at what speed/rpm the cylinder deactivation kicks in and what this feels like? Also, what is the sound like below 5000rpm? And what is the ride quality like with the new chassis? Thanks.
From the press kit:Adaptive cylinder control
A special innovation to reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption is the adaptive cylinder control. At engine speeds of between 1,600 and 3,000 rpm and a load request of up to a maximum torque of 100 Nm, it temporarily interrupts the injection process of one of the two engine banks, and the six-cylinder engine temporarily operates in three-cylinder mode. At constant load, the cylinder bank is changed every 20 seconds to ensure a uniform load and flow through the catalytic converters. With the exception of a slightly different sound profile, this switching back and forth goes unnoticed by the driver. The effect, however, is palpable: the adaptive cylinder control can reduce the CO2 emissions by around 11 grams per kilometre. It can be deactivated together with the start/stop function, which is featured for the first time in the 718 Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder.

I was at the PEC this morning driving the German registered yellow PCCB car. I was able to take out on the road to see whether the suspension was more compliant than the the 981 version. It was and like before there was not much difference between normal and sport. I suspect this is due to the extra damper stiffness in sport not kicking in below a preset G loading, just like the DSC PASM replacement system that I have used on my last car.
The sound for me is fine, perhaps on a long journey it might not be so good for some but I’ve come from a 200 cell manifold system which static was 104db so I am probably used to louder interior exhaust noise. The chap who was taking over the car for the afternoon session said he thought it was quieter than the 981 from the outside, although I was hardly at higher revs on the PEC circuits.
Much less understeer, PCCB’s to me had a rather dead pedal feel, but I’m not used to them and again was not getting much heat into them.
For those that want to fit harnesses, they do not attach to the “roll cage” but are secured to the firewall. The carpet has pre-cut slits, presumably only on the Clubsport pack cars. Not sure what the point of the Clubsport pack is, other than posing. There are much less expensive harness bars available.
The leather on the entry side of the driver’s LWB was already showing sign of wear - need to add protectors I think.

Did you like it ?
Is it a step on from the 981 ?
Engine better ?
Gearbox ?
Yes I liked it.Is it a step on from the 981 ?
Engine better ?
Gearbox ?
The only 981 GT4s I drove were the two at PEC, so very limited basis for comparison.
I had a PDK Cayman fitted with tuned 3.8L Carerra engine which had a strong top end, the new 4.0L engine is more like that and smoother than the somewhat constrained 981 engine.
Gearbox and clutch are lighter than the 981 as I recall those, but perfectly fine for me. Still not better than PDK, especially on track.
Would I get one, yes please but strong preference for PDK

Mine is due at the end of November and am looking for someone who can give a realistic review of the car on the road as well as the track.
So far the only real reviews have been the initial reviews from Knockhill.

I took delivery of my 718 Spyder 5 weeks ago. I have done 500 miles which includes a track day at Anglesey. Everyday driving- the more I drive it, the more I love it. It has good torque low down so you don't have to keep changing gear. After 5,000 the engine sounds and feels amazing and it's very happy to keep pulling you all the way to 8,000 - the sensation is very addictive. The clutch is just right, if a little on the heavy side. I find the roof is quite simple to use now that I'm used to it.
On Track, I found the car to be less than anticipated. The front end turn in is exceptional and overall its very well balanced. The gearing is just about right however you do feel caught between gears sometimes and you'll almost always not change down due to the extra torque whereas a PDK will change down. However, there's way way too much understeer in high speed corners. This I suspect is simply down to the Dunlop Race Maxx 2 tyres that mine came with. They are rubbish and it's clear to see why the press 718s had Michelins. Dont know why mine came with those. I suspect customers will swap if theirs come with the Dunlops! Despite the tyres, the potential is clear that this 718 will be a very good track car and very rewarding.
For me, I will do the occasional track day but I feel I'll find this spyder more rewarding as an everyday or weekend car. Its darty and precise and for me, the engine sounds amazing. It's also very practical. It has a much higher ride height than the 981 and rides the speed bumps, potholes etc very well. It also looks amazing which is always a bonus!
Hope this helps.
