My car finally arrived this week into the dealership, however it will be under a cover on the showroom floor until I pick it up on the first week of January.

I plan on using this car as my daily so really looking forward to picking it up in January.

I brought my 1986 911 out to Porsche today, to go view the car, which made the trip extra special. 2 completely different cars, but very similar in other ways.

I need to let the OPC know if I want to put a sticker front plate or a mounted front plate. I think the mounted plate works better on a car like this as it adds another contour?

Looks great, congrats. You will be knocking on showroom door at 8 on morning of the 2nd Jan...

Cayman GT4 wins Evo car of the year 2019. A little encouragement (as if they needed it) for those with one coming...

+1 For Highgate House. They even put the supplying dealers Postcode on it so it’s legal.
Actually it is not legal height. You can get fully legal stick-on from licensed DVLA plate supplier. I have one DVLA and one HH and legal one fitted OK so I've gone with that version first.

90+k car that anyone can buy better than 72k car than one person can buy. No real surprise there and I’d gladly have either.

Picked mine up from Reading this morning, looks so much better in the flesh than in photos. Especially with buckets and extended leather.

Good fun to drive, exhaust note pretty amusing with the active exhaust button depressed.

Just need to get it run in now....

It would be much closer if the Trophy-R was up against the original GT4 - they both set the same Ring lap times at 7.40

… the ring times a really are only useful at the point in time.
Put a car on the current day equivalent tyres and you’ll easily beat the time quoted at time launch.

I mean nobody believes that the 718 GT4 is actually quicker than a CGT on equivalent tyres at the same track, on the same day.

Which extended leather option(s) do you have? There are a couple of door and dash leather options for £300/£700 ish and I’m not sure if they are worth it above and beyond the normal leather pack with grey/red/yellow stitching.

should have said leather pack with stitching, dashboard looks much better with it. Also has alcantara visors which work well.

Agreed, it is so much more aggressive in real life. Great road presence

So got the first 500 miles or so on the Spyder this weekend. Still a bit mixed feelings to be honest.
The exhaust along with its GPF is shocker. The overriding impression is of a loud tuneless blare, there is no subtlety or flat six music just a noise. On start up there is a very loud noise like a hand dryer at the rear along with various clicks from solenoids or something, does the GPF have a heater to get it going? This goes away after a few seconds or so. At steady cruise is has an awful drone at 50 mph in top which is Pita in the miles and miles of roadworks on the M6, equates to 2000rpm, drop it into 4th and its really quiet. Steady 75 to 85 it’s nice and quiet, flick the exhaust button at this speed and you will wish you hadn’t, the horrible blare is back. Above 85 or so and the drone is back but the wind noise mainly drowns out the exhaust with the hood up. With the top down it is better as the drone disappears quite a bit but the exhaust is totally tuneless and soulless. Just white noise. No singing, or pops, and crackles just white noise.
The other thing is THE SMELL. Christ on a bike it’s bloody horrible, every time you stop there is a vile smell of hot metal and burning paint. I put this down to the new car smell but it’s still there after 600 miles, even at traffic lights with the top down it comes wafting into the cabin. I am beginning to think this is a GPF thing ???????? I hope it goes away with time. Remember when catalysts were new and everything smelt of rotten eggs when you gave it the beans?
Apart from that it’s brilliant with the hood down, bit of a faff remembering the right order to do everything in but it is absolutely great once you are there, the heater and heated seats are well up to the job, even at a 100mph cruise, and the Burmester is the dogs nads. Wind noise is no worse with the hood down than up.
Despite the very slightly reduced headroom over the R, which is down to the hood ribs I think, the heated seats are fantastic, I did a back to back with the R and they do feel exactly the same.
Obviously still in the running in cycle at the moment so no idea about the performance but it does feel every inch a GT Porsche, nice control weights, plenty of feedback, lots of squirrelly aqua planning in the wet from the tyres, needs to be driven firmly. I have a feeling it’s going to be quite quick and rewarding once the speeds get up. It’s not that high geared as its 25mph/1000 revs in top, given that second is very high the rest will be closely stacked so should be great once you can give it the beans.
Mine is sat in the garage now filthy, just how it should be smile

Interesting - I have to say the noise from mine is not as good as the 981 , but also is nowhere near as bad as you describe - I’m actually growing to like it as it’s less synthetic - I think at mid revs it sounds really good. Also I’ve not noticed the smell at all - may be worth checking this out as mine doesn’t have this characteristic what so ever - been out in it today, hood down , not a whiff ? Maybe somethings up ?

Kind regards smile

I didn’t say I did not like it. It’s just when you spunk the thick end of £100K on a totally unnecessary toy you want it to be just so. Man maths and all that.
